Bush Losing About One Point per Month Since January 2005
New 34% approval rating is lowest of administration

PRINCETON, NJ -- President George W. Bush's job approval rating is now at the low point of his administration at 34%. The decline in Bush's ratings in the latest USA Today/Gallup poll is due to shrinking levels of already low support among Democrats and independents, both of whose job approval ratings for Bush have reached all-time lows. Republican support for Bush has rallied slightly, from 74% earlier in the month to 81% now. Bush's job approval rating has dropped about one point per month, on average, over the past four years. Since his second term began in January 2005, Bush's ratings have fallen from an average of 52% in January and February of 2005 to an average of 36% in April of this year. If current trends continue, by no means a certainty, Bush's rating would be at an all-time low for any president of 22% by June of 2007.

The new poll, conducted April 28-30, shows Bush's job approval rating at 34%. This is the lowest of his administration by two percentage points, below the 36% measured once in early March and once again in early April.

The president's job approval ratings over the course of his entire administration have moved through an extraordinarily large range -- from a high point of 90% in September 2001 to the current low, a difference of 56% points.

Although there has been a great deal of talk about the impact of the high price of gasoline on the decline in Bush's ratings, the steady erosion has been evident since 2001.

1. The only 'gas' that has anything to do with
his approval rating is the gas he constantly blows out when he talks. He should probably STFU, because every time he opens his piehole, he just digs deeper. Not that I mind that aspect of it. :)

7. No, he needs to keep talking

13. It's funny when you read from the press or hear someone in the press say
"They need to let scrub be scrub."
Because everytime he does that, the public sours on him even more.
They're better off telling him to shut up and read from carefully scripted speeches. Speeches that are very short and have lots of monosyllabic words.

8. That's a great take off on one of my old favorites. B-) Hopefully someday
our descendants will be able to tell the story and sing a song about Patrick Fitzgerald and 'the wreck of the Bush Amin'stration'.

22. Hi, calimary. I stole the lyrics there from Gordon Lightfoot's song
"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," a true story song about men who died on a ship during a squall on the Great Lakes. It's fairly popular in folk circles and in some Great Lake towns in Canada, close to a national anthem.

That second verse there is a tweak on Lightfoot's tune.

I hope he doesn't come around and beat the crap out of me!

12. He was headed this way before 9/11.
If not for Corporate Republican Christmas, he would have never seen the artificially inflated nineties.

He would have been a one-termer like his loser dad.

21. Get Your War On
The comic strip had a great line a while back that we will know that the country is on the right track when Bush's approval rating is equal to the interest rate. I'm not talking about prime, but the rate for interest bearing checking accounts.
