Convicted mayor of Lynchburg, Va., resigns
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1110AP_Mayor_Resigns.html

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The mayor of Lynchburg resigned Wednesday, a day after a federal jury convicted him of raiding his church's charity to pay his debts with money donated by the Rev. Jerry Falwell and his son.

Carl B. Hutcherson Jr. was also found to have taken money from two disabled Social Security recipients for whom he received benefits. He was convicted of fraud, lying to federal and bank officials and obstruction of justice.

Hutcherson, 62, a Methodist minister, was flanked by his son and daughter at City Hall on Wednesday as he announced his resignation both as mayor and as a city councilman.

1. Aren't you amazed that these sleazoids wait to resign...
until after they're convicted?

How do they live with themselves?

3. There is no party designation here. The reason
is that the mayor is chosen by council rather than the voters, and usually turns out to be the person who has alienated the fewest fellow members.

This guy is scum

The skeletons in the mayor’s closet were made public during his five-day trial in U.S. District Court. Hutcherson was more than $100,000 in debt and used money intended for his church charity to help pay back taxes. Also, a Lynchburg woman testified she had had an affair with Hutcherson for decades and that he had given her money that he had been entrusted with by Social Security recipients.

When corruption rules at the top of the country, corruption rules throughout the system.
