4. Pile the bodies high

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

5. Does this even hit the front page anymore?
Check your local paper today; anybody see a report about military personnel getting killed in Iraq?

Welcome to the out-of-sight, out-of-mind phase of war reporting. What's the matter, media outlets? Tired of your excellent little war already? The killing and the dying is ongoing every day! Come one, come all, to the Great Spectacle of War! You all wanted it, hungered for it, had to have it back in 2002 and early 2003. Derided those of us who knew what we were getting into as "traitors" at worst, "naive" at best. Well, here's your reality, you fucking bloodthirsty maggots. Isn't this what you wanted so badly? Don't tell me you're tired of it already.

6. Everytime there are dead, we certainly have wounded
The number of wounded is hardly ever reported, yet we know from families of servicemembers that their wounds are horrible and life altering in many cases.

9. The front page of every US paper should carry the casualty
counts. And they need to press the Pentagon (or whoever) for the counts on the wounded.
