Kremlin says Cheney attacks on Russia "incomprehensible"
The Kremlin on Thursday rejected as "completely incomprehensible" remarks by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney that Russia was backsliding on democracy and using its vast energy supplies to bully its neighbours.

"The speech of Mr. Cheney in our opinion is full of a subjective evaluation of us and of the processes that are going on in Russia. The remarks ... are completely incomprehensible for us," said Kremlin deputy spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Cheney, in remarks that could cause tense moments when Russian President Vladimir Putin hosts his first summit of the G8 industrialised nations in July, earlier told Baltic and Black Sea leaders in Vilnius that Moscow should return to the path of democratic reform.

Look at Putin. Can you see who he's looking at? Now, I know Bush is a complete clown. Look at that fool.....with his pants zipper open, and acting like a court jester.

But I couldn't help noticing Putin and the look he's giving Bush....if looks could kill....

leader. Hell, he even gives the pseudo impression that he gives a damn about the average Russian.

We, however, in the supposed greatest Democratic Republic in the World have been dealt "The American Backwash" as our President.

I'm so ashamed of our pResident.

4. Cheney is intentionally sabatoging diplomatic action against Iran
Edited on Thu May-04-06 10:34 AM by Tempest
Just like Cheney sabotaged talks with Iran in 2003, Cheney is sabotaging Bush's attempts at sanctions against Iran.

Cheney wants war with Iran no matter what the outcome.

17. I absolutely agree with you.
It's Cheney. He's maniacally set on war with Iran, just like he was with Iraq.

I'm going to say this - and my post might get deleted - but: I hope Cheney's pacemaker runs out of juice before he gets more people killed.

I mean permanent.

13. They still like the Russia-bogeyman
Conservatives no doubt miss the Cold War and the wonderful rhetoric that they could spew over the evil empire. I'm sure that Russia, and the Kremlin, can still be used to rev up the base. I'm surprised Cheney didn't use the C word.

Funny thing is, Russia is still a formidable power and does hold vast military and energy resources.

They budded in the Gerald Ford administration, flowered in the Reagan and Bush I administrations, and came to full bloom in the Shrub admin.

Not surprising they started with Ford, one of the crapola POS's on the Warren Commision. These people have taken the Kennedy assassinations full course - now they're no longer in the shadows, they own the guv'mint.

15. It really is the Gang that couldn't shoot straight here
it's not just that they are hypocritical holier than thou amoral war mongering bloodthirsty greedy pig dogs it's that they are stunningly mind boggling incompetent hypocritical holier than thou amoral war mongering bloodthirsty greedy pig dogs. Anything they touch turns to dung. That's what really makes this crew special. The nation has had crooks in government before but at least after you bribed Boss Tweed you got the building built or the job done(by his folks) but these clowns - In Iraq Baghdad has one hour of power a day (and it's getting on to summer) New Orleans is still a mess with no real plan in sight and it's coming up on hurricane season (did they ever manage to rebuild trent Lott's house by the way? Just wondering - * made a big deal about that so I'd guess the answer is no). And foreign policy - well if there is the one thing to say or do that will make things worse - they will find it and do it.

It'd be comical if people weren't dying along with the dream of the republic. That's what's not funny - we're going to have present the corpse of the American Dream to our descendants and say "here fix it - we screwed it up big time)

22. you know even if we are sidewise with russia on some issues (and
i do not concede that we are), does it make sense to try to alienate the entire world simultaneously? How about flattering russia and use them to deal with other problems like iraq, iran, north korea, before turning on them. If we have to have an evil administration, cant it be at least some of the time "smart and evil" instead of always "stupid and evil".

30. Cheney's Sharp Criticism Miffs Russia
Vice President Dick Cheney on Thursday accused Russia of cracking down on religious and political rights and using its energy reserves as ``tools of intimidation or blackmail.'' It was a hard slap at Vladimir Putin as the United States seeks Russia's cooperation in punishing Iran.

Russian officials reacted angrily.
``Cheney's speech looks like a provocation and interference in Russia's internal affairs in terms of its content, form and place,'' former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency. Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin expressed annoyance that Russia had not been invited to the conference of former Soviet republics and allies. A Russian lawmaker, ultranationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky, dismissed Cheney's comments as ``absolutely false accusations.'' He said Cheney had expressed the opinion ``of only part of the U.S. political elite'' but not that of Bush.

Washington has since tried to avoid provoking Russia, during sensitive negotiations over the international response to Iran's disputed nuclear program. Russia stands as the main obstacle to tough penalties or other measures to deter Iran from pursuing nuclear technology the West says is part of a drive to build a bomb.

Right off hand I can think of a country that is backsliding on democracy and using its vast supply of resources to bully other nations, and it isn't Russia.

Cheney - the pot calling the kettle black; the glass house dweller casting stones.
