Moussaoui Says `God Save Bin Laden' at Sentencing (Update3)

May 4 (Bloomberg) -- Zacarias Moussaoui said, ``God save Osama bin Laden, you will never get him'' as a U.S. judge sentenced him to life in prison for conspiring in the Sept. 11 attacks.

``We will come back another day,'' Moussaoui said in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, a day after a jury spared him from the death penalty for the worst terrorist attacks in U.S. history. ``I fight for my beliefs. You think that you own the world, and I will prove that you are wrong,'' he said.

``You came here to be a martyr and to die in a big bang of glory,'' U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema said to Moussaoui in imposing the sentence of life in prison without parole. ``Instead, you will die with a whimper,'' she said, paraphrasing the poet T.S. Eliot.

Moussaoui, 37, the only person charged in the U.S. in connection with the attacks, pleaded guilty in April 2005 to conspiracy charges. Testifying at his sentencing trial, Moussaoui said he and would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid planned to hijack a jetliner and fly it into the White House. The government later said there was no evidence to support that claim.

2. I'm glad they went with life in prison
instead of martyrdom. The guy is a whackjob, let him spend the rest of his days inside his own weird little head--that should be punishment enough.

3. Let's hope, eventually, he says "I'll take my medication"
The guy is a loony tune, and he knows about as much about what Bin Ladin is up to as I know about Brownie's prancing ponies...which is what I read in the paper!

6. It would have been justice had he been sentenced for something he DID
Rather than for something he didn't do.

7. He's a paranoid schizophrenic
according to the psychiatists who have interviewed him, state forensic psychiatrists who had a stake in proving him sane enough for a show trial and execution. They said he's crazy.

I've always seen him as a red herring, a wannabe the boys at the top sent over here to attract attention away from the real problems.

Sadly, it seems to have worked.

8. I agree with Moussaoui--"God save Osama bin Laden"--just as I agree
with the jury that refused to execute Moussaoui. I want ANSWERS!!!!--not deaths. If Moussaoui is a "whackjob," I want to know who 'programmed' him to do the things he did and why--or, if not psychological programming, who enticed and/or funded him? Who smoothed his way into this country? Who was/is using this seemingly crazy, unstable, and apparently not very bright man, and toward what end? It's highly doubtful he could not have piloted a commercial jet--why then this charade of "flight training"? Was/is he a decoy of some kind? Also, is his looniness the result of torture/psychological conditioning? Who has had access to him?

But most of all I want to know, a) why Colleen Rowley's request to access his computer was denied by her FBI bosses in DC, just prior to 9/11, and b) what Nicholas Berg's email account/password was doing in Moussaoui's computer, and, if that story is true*, what the connection is between Nicholas Berg (famously beheaded on video in May 2004) and Moussaoui.

*News stories after the beheading video reported that Nicholas had been interviewed by the FBI, after 9/11 and after they got into Moussaoui's computer, as to why Nicholas' email account/password was present in Moussaoui's computer; Nicholas told them he'd met Moussaoui by accident on a bus and had lent this total stranger his computer, and the FBI was apparently satisfied with this story; fast-forward two years, Nicholas is permitted to enter Iraq after the invasion and wander around Iraq looking for business for his small telecommunications firm, but on his second such visit is picked up by US forces, held for ten days at Abu Ghraib; his parents were frantically petitioning Donald Rumsfeld for his release; he was then dumped onto the streets in the middle of the Falluja uprising, and was immediately grabbed apparently by Zarqawi's group and beheaded on video--a video that provided Freepers with a cause celebre just after the Abu Ghraib torture pictures became public. The story about Nicholas and Moussaoui's computer was attributed, as I recall, to Nicholas' father Michael, as told to him by Nicholas.

As you can guess, I am profoundly distrustful of both the war profiteering news monopoly narrative of who Moussaoui is, what he has said, and what has gone down in his trial, and of the Bush junta narrative of 9/11.

That is one of the reasons that I am profoundly grateful to the Moussaoui jury for not executing him. Who knows what information may be rattling around in his head, that might be critical to our understanding of 9/11 and to how the junta operates. I tend to think that those who could really inform us have long ago been "rendered," tortured to death, "disappeared" etc. (I think that's what the secret flights may be about, in part), but, like I said, who knows? To execute the only person we have in custody whom we know has some connection to 9/11--however tenuous--would be foolish. And I feel the same way about Osama bin Laden. The purpose of the pursuit should be to KNOW, not to kill. Killing is stupid revenge. And the idiotic "wanted, dead or alive" mantra has resulted in catastrophic "collateral damage."

I am also glad that the jury respected the wishes of the 9/11 families, to end the cycle of revenge. Many of them are very unhappy with the official 9/11 report and with the Bush regime use of that tragedy to justify slaughtering innocent people in Iraq. And, finally, of course, the death penalty itself is uncivilized--and egregiously unfair and unconstitutional in its implementation. Bush/Cheney have killed a lot more innocent people than the perps of 9/11 did. And they aren't even on trial for it (yet). Tells you something about the 'fairness' of the death penalty, ikon of our disreputable 'justice' system. Innocent people are sitting on "death row" for years, because they are poor; some have likely been executed; and mere possessors of marijuana--with two non-violent "strikes" against them--are in jail for life--while the mass murderers, liars and master thieves of the Bush regime go free, and are planning more murders of innocent people.

11. "To execute the only person

The Military has three al Q Members that are connected to 911 in custody . It has been stated that these men will never get a trial in the US because of the methods of interrogations that they have gotten.

12. So says the Military--or whoever this info comes from. I haven't heard
from the accused. In Moussaoui's case, I have--filtered through his possibly broken brain, and the 'justice' system, and the corporate news monopolies, anyway. (I wasn't present in the court room.) I don't believe ANYTHING these liars say about ANYBODY whom I don't have some sort of independent read on, and even then--even if you think you are reading/hearing accurate translations of words spoken by accused people or others on their behalf--you can't be sure.

I am a total skeptic about anything this government says about terrorism or terrorists--most especially about people they are holding in secret detention. This is a purged military and a purged intelligence apparatus, with Bush junta toadies in charge. So, who is claiming that these three people are "al Q members" and have connections to 9/11? And why should we trust this information? I've no doubt they're torturing people for all sorts of reasons--probably none of it having to do with ours or anyone else's safety. That part I can believe. But who they are and why they are being so treated, and why they are secret prisoners, and why the military/Bush junta would claim to have such prisoners and not name them, or not produce any evidence against them, are the questions. Total skepticism is the best course. Do they even exist?

14. Hey, Disturbed! I just got more info on these 3 9/11 prisoners--
Randi Rhodes was just talking about them on AAR (5/5/06, 2:35 pm Pac Time). She played a tape of 9/11 family member talking about these 3 captives, and saying that the Bush junta prosecuted Moussaoui, who has only a tenuous connection to 9/11, and have NOT prosecuted three in their custody who DID have close connections to it--and the reason for no prosecution is that the Bushites tortured them, and they don't want this to come out--also, evidence inadmissable.

I DO trust 9/11 family members--what a courageous and amazing bunch of people! So, if they say there are 3 9/11 prisoners, I believe them--or at least believe that they are speaking on the best info they can get. Who the prisoners really are, and what they really know, is still at issue, though--since they are in secret detention, and cannot speak for themselves, and, further, their minds have undoubtedly been messed with. I am HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS of this circumstance--and what I suspect is that they had knowledge of insider US collusion, and that is why they have been tortured, and held in secret prisons, and not permitted lawyers, and not prosecuted.
