AP: Russian Media Warn of New Cold War
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2006/05/05/international/i074926D65.DTL

A Russian newspaper said Friday that Vice President Dick Cheney's harsh criticism of Moscow's human rights record signaled the start of a new Cold War.

The Kommersant business daily compared Cheney's speech Thursday in neighboring Lithuania to Winston Churchill's famous "Iron Curtain" speech in Fulton, Mo., saying in that it "marked the beginning of a second Cold War."

Churchill coined the "Iron Curtain" expression in his 1946 speech that warned of Soviet expansion.

... Former Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev said Cheney's speech "looks like a provocation and interference in Russia's internal affairs in terms of its content, form and place."

3. Mission Accomplished!! It's what they wanted. You MUST have
a reason to make and sell arms if you are to keep alive a country whose economy is fueled by the military-industrial complex. I guess this is why Condi's expertise was needed...to re-create the cold war.

Wonder what happens when we run out of fuel?

5. Dick's pining for the old cold war days
Things were a lot simpler back then, right, Dick?

Maybe we can bring that magic back one more time and get it right this time.

6. It's all about OIL, baby.
The US is moving in on Russian 'turf'. Condi said it yesterday, "Russia must accept that we have interests in its former states". Interests?

Guess what kind? (hint) pipelines, bases, contracts with local dictators, increasing tensions with Russia.

7. Which would, like the old one,
make control of the masses everywhere so much easier. And would keep on greasing the profit machine.

9. This could be an excellent way for the US to screw the EU, too,
...if EU governments are stupìd enough to go along with the US on this and Russia decides to close some taps and sell its natural gas elsewhere...
