Berlusconi associate imprisoned

ROME, Italy (UPI) -- A close associate of former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi checked into a prison in Rome Friday after an appeals court upheld his conviction.

Cesare Previti, who served as Berlusconi`s lawyer and defense minister, was found guilty in a case involving bribery of a judge. Late Thursday, the Court of Cassation set his sentence at six years.

Previti, 71, may soon win some measure of freedom, the Italian news agency ANSA reported. A law passed while Berlusconi still headed the Italian government allows house arrest or other alternatives to prison for convicts over 70.

Previti also denied any wrongdoing, saying he is 'serene in the knowledge that they are sending an innocent man to jail.'

10. Gotta face the fact.
one of Bersculoni's fears of loosing power is loosing control over who controls prosecutors. You go into the night unwillingly, when the prosecutors will be following. SOmeone recall they suggested a compromise, he be made president, so he'd be immune from prosecution.
This is the time for Prozi to go after him with Justice dept. , before Bersculoni goes after Prozi with his Faux-style news organizations.
