Chapel Hill, NC: Council backs impeachment of Bush
http://www.herald-sun.com/orange/10-732922.html

CHAPEL HILL -- The Town Council unanimously backed a call Monday for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, in a meeting in which it managed to touch on politics, panhandling and downtown parking.

<snip>

On the political front, the council voted 8-0 in favor of a call for impeaching President Bush, reacting to a petition from the Elders for Peace group from the Carol Woods retirement community in Chapel Hill. The council members, all registered Democrats, passed the resolution without comment.

"The Constitution is under attack," charged Bob Gwyn, the group's chairman. "We have a president who is taking power unto himself, power from the Congress and from the courts.

<snip>

"The very nature of our country demands that George Bush be impeached," Nancy Elkins contended. "If we don't, what are the future citizens of our country going to think we were doing when we were allowing all of this?"

...more...

3. Powerful words. Has anyone said it more clearly?
"The Constitution is under attack," charged Bob Gwyn, the group's chairman. "We have a president who is taking power unto himself, power from the Congress and from the courts."

"The very nature of our country demands that George Bush be impeached," Nancy Elkins contended. "If we don't, what are the future citizens of our country going to think we were doing when we were allowing all of this?"

10. They were talking about parking meters, then next, impeachment
Vote yes on impeachment, then moves on to the panhandler problem.

Funny that.

11. I've been to Chapel Hill

Back when I was still willing to travel to the US, I was invited to work as a professional designer for a theatre production at UNC. (Yes, all my paperwork was in order)

I had expected North Carolina to be a very right-wing zone, but no one I met during my stay in Chapel Hill seemed to fit the bill. People seemed only too happy to tell a visiting Canadian the many reasons why George W Bush is the worst president ever. And that was like, three years ago; I can only imagine what they're saying now.

Of course, I was mostly socializing with theatre artists, faculty types & such, so I didn't really get exposed to the "backwash".

Well, bravo to the city council for their unanimous resolution!

Ex-Bush Official Busts 9/11 Perps at U.W. Historical Society

Madison, WI
Saturday, May 6, 2006

An enthusiastic standing-room-only crowd packed the Wisconsin Historical Society auditorium Saturday to hear ex-Bush Administration insider Morgan Reynolds prosecute top administration and military officials for the 9/11 inside job.

Reynolds indicted Richard Cheney, George W. Bush, former Joint Chiefs Chairman Richard Meyers, confessed WTC demolisher and insurance-fraudster Larry Silverstein, and others for mass murder, conspiracy, and other charges including high treason. The enthusiastic response from the overflow crowd was a de facto vote for conviction on all counts.

The former Director of the Criminal Justice Center at the National Center for Policy Analysis, showed that the defendants conspired to create a false cover story of suicide hijackings in order to “blow the World Trade Center to kingdom come” with explosives—a shock-and-awe psy-op designed to coerce the American people into supporting a pre-planned “long war” in the Middle East, massive increases in military spending, and the rollback of Constitutional civil liberties.

18. That's one of the few things
out of Chapel Hill that I agree with. I hate most things associated with UNC and Chapel Hill. Go Deacs! But those folks are right on target to remove the Shrub by impeachment!

22. Cool!
I missed that somehow...

Don't be misled though, Chapel Hill has plenty of yuppie Bushbots too. Years ago, I never saw a Repub sticker on a car. Now they seem to be everywhere. We've been invaded.

Still this is heartening news. :-)
