U.S. to prohibit "water-boarding"
By Matthew Schofield

Knight Ridder Newspapers

GENEVA — The U.S. Army will prohibit "water-boarding" — the controversial practice of submerging a prisoner's head in water in an effort to make him talk — when it issues its new interrogation manual, the State Department's legal adviser told the U.N. Committee Against Torture on Monday.

John Bellinger said banning water-boarding wasn't an admission that U.S. interrogators had used the technique on detainees during anti-terrorism efforts.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002981306_torture09.html

And BUSH sent a team of twenty lawyers (funny, republicans fucking hate lawyers but use teams of them when appropriate!) to argue to the UN that we do not torture and we condemn torture then release this statement that we will discontinue a torture tactic!

Have the wheels come off this loony-bin bus or what?

7. Good gawdalmighty. You'd think they'd fear being struck by lightening.
They are really pressing their luck, aren't they? Anyone who believes Bush would EVER consider giving up even a moment which could be devoted to harming some helpless person he wants to torment is mad, utterly mad.

That's the real perk of stealing the pResidency: absolute "capital" you can spend any ol' way you want, just because there's no one who can stop you.

Dunking kids heads in toilets in high school.

Individuals should be protected against "cruel and unusual punishments"

Are things like this not allowed according to the Constitution?

10. The UN may not be buying the story these 20 lawyers have weaved
The articles on the details of the UN panel meetings detailed how they thought the US was not answering any of their questions.

The UN report will come out next week. In the meantime the US is flooding the media with reports that the US doesn't do torture. A smoke screen.

13. They aren't buying it, but the hypocrisy is sickening
it is like catching a 2-year old breaking something and tryig to hide the evidence.
They stand there defiantly, hiding the brokenitem behind their back, lip trembling and asserting they diun "nothing wrong" even though they have been caught red-handed.

16. Was this one of the techniques that Gonzalez said did not amount
to torture? It was his opinion that to qualify as torture it had to inflict pain at the level of organ failure.

"Asked about a key 2002 Justice Department memo that narrowly defined torture as pain that led to organ failure or death, Gonzales said he couldn't recall if the CIA sought it or if he had asked the department to produce it. "

21. Gee - who woulda thot that making a person fear drowning was "torture"
.
.
.

USA's sick practices are being known globally thanks to the Internet

All the Military Might can't help the USA now

The USA has lost the respect of the world

And like I've mentioned many times in the last 3 years

We are coming to the inevitable second half of an Empire's cycle

The rise and FALL of the _____________ Empire.

North American Natives/Aboriginals/First Nations people will rejoice

And quite rightfully so

Us white men came over here, raped their land, destroyed their habitats, and then turned around to make war on the rest of the Globe!!

Watch your backs when the backlash cometh, cuz when someone attacks North America, it won't be our so-called "terrorist" that are the danger

It'll be the NATIVE people(who REALLY belong here, by the way) that we displaced 3-400 years ago!

Sumthing to think about
