Bashir Film at Root Of Jacko Case

The controversial Martin Bashir documentary about Michael Jackson that aired last February on ABC may now come back to haunt him.
The whole world knows by now that the Santa Barbara sheriff’s department and other arms of the law have been combing over Jackson’s Neverland Ranch since early Tuesday morning. The Santa Barbara district attorney, I am told, “is determined to make a case stick.” He is even said to have sequestered the family of a 12-year-old boy who may have made a complaint against Jackson.
Rumors of an arrest warrant for Jackson, who has been in Las Vegas for three weeks filming a new video, began to swirl by Tuesday evening. Calls to Jackson’s lawyer and the Santa Barbara sheriff’s office were not returned.
But the real irony here is that Jackson may have filmed evidence that will either save him or hurt him if such a case proceeds through the courts. Unlike the story a decade ago when he was branded a child molester and settled a case out of court, this story may have been documented. First, Jackson let Bashir follow him with cameras for months before selling his documentary around the world. Then it turned out Jackson was filming the filming, with miles of film shot by all parties. Police will be examining everything from those films, including all the interviews and Jackson’s interactions with others, to search for clues about these latest allegations.

<snip>

he's toast.

1. I hope so
It will destroy him....and well it should. If you or I said we share our bed with teen boys or girls we would go to jail. This freak of nature says it and it takes YET ANOTHER molestation to get him. Let's hope they throw this fruitcake in jail and bury the key...far, far away. He's a living specimen of mental illness and should have sought help instead of thinking his millions would protect him when he breaks the law.

31. this thread is about Michael Jackson
and it is very much about late-breaking news. I can see why you'd have other priorities, but it begs the question of what you are doing reading this thread if the subject is too insignifcant for to you.

I grew-up listening to him and his god-awful gothic downfall can't help but capture my attention. No worries, though...I'm great at multi-tasking; I can watch the MJ spectacle and plan to vote against Bush at the very same time.

2. Dollars falls to new low in trading with Euro
The dollar tumbled to a historic low against the euro on Tuesday after a report of a sharp drop in foreigners' appetite for U.S. investments raised alarms about possible fragility in the U.S. economic recovery.
.
The plunge in the dollar, which lifted the euro by more than 2 cents on the day to $1.1954, the highest level since its introduction in 1999, was given added momentum by fears of rising protectionist sentiment in the United States, analysts said.

3. innocent until proven guilty please
even though he seems a bit of a nutter we should see the evidence. Not defending him but can't condemn him yet either.

Dont know how the last message fits in though

8. He's been proven guilty...
of being a clear and present danger to himself and his children. Have you looked at his face? Did you see the video of him dangling his own baby over the balcony, almost dropping him?

If anything good comes of this, perhaps maybe he will finally be forced to get the help that he has so desperately needed for so long. It's just unconscionable that he's been given a pass for his behavior as long as he has, strictly on who he is and his $$$$.

And I'm kind of tired of people scolding me (or anyone else here, for that matter) for even discussing the topic of Jacko while the dollar is falling, Bush visits England, more soldiers die, etc. I pretty much understand 100% that the world is going to hell in a handbasket, though the corporate media will NEVER report on it no matter what. So forgive me for being just a little bit elated at the prospect that maybe, just maybe, one dangerous man like Michael Jackson may be taken out of harm's way.

10. In fairness
Jackson had a very firm hold of the baby. I don't think he should have been either showing the child off, showing the child off with a handkerchief over its head, OR dangling him over the balcony. BUT, he did have a firm hold on the child.

21. I've been dinged vicariously...
via all the other people that have had their hands slapped here for voicing their opinions about the Jacko story, because I, like them, am not devoting the same posting time to the falling dollar, Bush and Her Majesty and the protesters, the war in Iraq, Rush Limbaugh's money laundering, the heartbreak of psoriasis, and other stories deemed more important by the DU elite.

9. Sorry, I'm an average citizen, not a juror or judge
And I definitely get to have and express my opinion on the matter.

There's been far too many charges, allegations, and along with certain of his own admissions, as well as the troubled childhood he had, you bet I think he's guilty.

No, let me correct that. I'm CERTAIN he's guilty. Healthy grown men do NOT take young boys into their beds. In fact, they don't have quite the, um, fascination for young boys that Michael does.

11. I agree...
It's not normal or acceptable for an adult to share a bed with unrelated children. Where are the parents of these children, anyway? The positive thing is that hopefully this will finally come to a stop(in this particular case, anyway)

Yahoo has the story and pointed out a couple of important distinctions this time.
1. There are Multiple counts.
2. The boy's therapist blew the whistle. (Required by law).

23. Oh, please.
My dad always used to dangle me from high places. He'd also do the 1-2-3... throw but always hang on at the end. And the shake the suspension rope bridge right when I get to the middle thing. It's an inherent part of fatherhood. It's biological.

I want to be amongst the ones who say he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. But of course each individual has their opinion on guilt or innocence.

27. just based on his part reputation and that TV special
what kind of parent would still let their child sleep over??? The parent(s) of said child should be put in the slammer BEFORE jacko!

And what children today even have a frame of reference of jacko as a formerly huge star?? From a child's standpoint, why would they even want to go over? For such a recluseful person, how does he even meet children/parents, anyways??
