Hayden CIA bid hinges on spying role: senators

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden's chances of winning Senate
confirmation to head the CIA depend on how he explains his involvement in eavesdropping
and data collection programs, two key senators said on Sunday.

President George W. Bush's nominee for CIA director can expect tough questions this week
about his role in the administration's controversial domestic spying program while he was
head of the National Security Agency.

"There's no question that his confirmation is going to depend upon the answers he gives
regarding activities of NSA," said Sen. Chuck Hagel, a member of the Senate Intelligence
Committee whom Hayden will face on Thursday.

Appearing on the same program, Sen. Joe Biden, a Delaware Democrat, said while he was
inclined to support the nomination, Hayden must give a full accounting of his involvement
in setting up domestic spying programs.

12. I've been asking that for over 6 years now.
I group him in the same bunch with LIE-berman and Zellout.

Might have been passibly OK once, a LONG time ago, but utterly damaging to MY Democratic Party now.

FOX channel's and the repukes favorite dem to give the dem viewpoint. That says alot.

Just go away joe!

my read "knewt" was on there to pull votes for "bush" and "hayden".
he fits right in with these "outlaws".
you can't believe him,and he definitely doesn't live what he preaches! i thought clinton buried him. he left washington in disgrace.seems clinton was a "choir boy" compared to "knewt"
i happened to go to the atlanta zoo hoping to see him there(knewt). the director said the only time he sees him is when there's a photo opp. people in "georgia" turned on him!

8. My fear is is hinges more on what the spying gave Hayden to barter with
and whether there are any Senators with the balls to say: go ahead and make my secrets public; I still won't vote to confirm.

9. Dislike both Biden and Newt
Biden has always been too much of a Bush yes man for my money. I guess now we know why. I say he is a bottom to Gannon. As for Newty, he is rotten to the core for running off with his mistress while his wife was dying with cancer.
