U.S. to renew diplomatic relations with Libya
WASHINGTON - The United States has decided to remove Libya from the terrorism and renew normal diplomatic relations, a State Department source said Monday.

A formal announcement was expected shortly.

In December 2003, Libya said it was giving up its weapons of mass destruction and in return a The United States opened a small diplomatic office in Tripoli in February 2004.

8. It ain't just the oil.
Libya is the example that props up the PNAC house of cards. Reopening the embassy there (to much fanfare) supports their bullshit fantasy.

9. Don't discount the oil
Malta and Libya are finally getting together on exploiting the areas of the continental shelf between them -- used to be they shot at each other when someone started drilling there. Gotta get all this to market -- but the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act (ILSA) makes that impossible.

But wait! Japan wants to work with Iran to develop the Azadegan oil field, a little less than 3 billion barrels' worth. Once again, ILSA getting in the way, since the US might sanction Japan.

Wait, did I actually say "the US might sanction Japan"? Sorry. :D

It's all a money game, folks. Look for the ILSA to drop faster than the Constitution.

2. I would pay money to see Qaddafi invited to Washington.
The sounds of aneurysm induced howls and protests from both left and right would be something.

5. No, I meant a White House visit.
Oh man! JDL, ADL, AJC, and WJC would go insane. On the right there would be a meltdown and infighting. Some would support the president, others would call him a terrorist appeaser, and Islamo-Fascist lover. On the left, well, there would be a meltdown and infighting. NONE would support the president, MOST would call him a terrorist appeaser, and Islamo-Fascist lover.

12. This just doesn't seem right to me.
Sorry, I can't explain why. I guess, because it is the same leadership which officially sanctioned bombing an airliner-- and no amount of money can make up for that.

The real story here is little hitler scared libya. They denounced the WMD plan so little hitler wouldn't kill there women and children they could see the head lines coming "Libya has WMD" "Libya is the worlds biggest threat"

I'm waiting for the headline "The whole middle east has WMD and America is the target we must kill all of them"

Sarcasm of course.
