3. Good news for us here in GA.
Did you notice that the Georgia numbers add up to 101%?

In any case, I know a lot of the 41% kind of people. They are stubborn, racist, xenophobic, homophobic and greedy.

7. I work with a bunch of them too.
I think most of them may just be greedy or vote Republican because it's good for business. Some are bigoted and many are young and Republican (recent college graduates and college students, both women and men.)

All my friends (except two) are Democrats. I'm working on converting my Republican woman friend. :)
The good news is that she usually does not vote ("too busy.") :) At least that's one less vote for *.

17. But does that mean they will vote for the Dems?
At least in GA - a lot of Repubs don't like Bush because he is too liberal & has not progressed with the Christian Right agenda - no homos, too much welfare, not enough conservative judges, still no concentration camps for illegals & liberal, no book burning parties, no public hangings, no mandatory church attendance, no Christian constitutional amendment, women still can go to work, still no revival of segragation, no white purity laws, public schools are still around, etc.

what a bum Bush is to them. If they wouldn't vote for dems maybe they will stay home which will help out the dems.

- still seeing a lot of W stickers on cars in Atlanta - at least in the Dunwoody & Sandy springs area - also in Alpharetta.

22. They already voted for Dems. Diebold didn't record it that way.
Election 02

Roy Barnes up by as much as 11% before the election; loses by 5% (16 pt swing)

Cleland up by as much as 8% before the election; loses by 5% (13 pt swing)

Exit polls have Barnes & Cleland winning; exit polls pulled from the net, still unavailable.

Diebold still rigged after all these years.

26. You ask the proper question
Bush isn't losing conservative votes because they've all of a sudden had an epiphany on Iraq and supply-side economics; it's because he's not reactionary enough for their tastes. If this keeps up, we'll benefit less from bona fide defectors to our side than from a loss of energy and commitment from the Pubbie base.

19. Today's forecast: 41% chance of idiocy.
Here's another famous 41%:

"06/09/03: (PIPA) A striking finding in the new Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) Knowledge Networks poll is that many Americans are unaware that weapons of mass destruction have not been found in Iraq. While 59% of those polled correctly said the US has not found Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, 41% said they believed that the US has found such weapons (34%) or were unsure (7%)."

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3707.htm

I have this theory that in the United States there is a 40% "stupidity barrier" on virtually all issues of importance. That is to say, a baseline of about four in ten Americans have no fucking idea what's going on with any given subject. That does not prevent them from expressing their all so important uninformed opinion--certainly not.

That uninformed opinion can be carefully shaped with disinformation and propaganda, so that while the stupid American's opinion is still factually uninformed, it is effectively the opinion that the manipulator wishes the idiot to have.

Once you've got the loyalty of the idiots, it's difficult to lose, because the idiots are not particularly inclined to do the mental gymnastics necessary to change their minds.

To break through the 40% stupidity barrier, one must strongly and memorably touch the lives of the hopelessly clueless in a way which can easily be remembered. This is not easily achieved, for the hopelessly clueless have short and unreliable memories.

One of the greatest achievements of the Republican Party was the rediscovery of the idea that a combination of racism, bigotry, fear, greed, and envy was a powerful elixir which motivated a vast pool of stupid people who otherwise wouldn't be inclined to remember to vote on election day.

But a still more impressive achievement of the Bush Administration is the improbable feat of fucking up so bad that even the idiots notice. That's what they're doing right now: ruining the lives of people, one daft American at a time, so spectacularly that even they are changing their small minds. When you're burning off supporters who don't even really know why they supported you in the first place, you are truly and undenyably worthy of the monicker "Worst President Ever."

Congratulations, Mr. President.

28. Will get much worse in FL
Edited on Mon May-15-06 04:45 PM by peaches2003
Way more than 61% in FL are going to disapprove of Bush when each senior hits the 'donut hole' in the Medicare prescription drug coverage. At that point benefits are totally cut off and you will pay 100% of the cost of every drug once your drug costs for that year have reached $2250, an amount that most seniors will hit for sure, some after only 6 months on the plan or less. That's $2250 in total drug costs(only 187.50 per month)- what you have paid and what the insurance company has paid. Most seniors will turn on Bush quickly when this happens.

32. No. We are not all stupid. Nor are we "inbred."
Please do not generalize. Those who vote Republican in this state have many reasons for doing so.

Some are very well educated and very wealthy and greedy.

Others are very religious.

Others are simply lazy and don't keep up with current affairs.

Others are racist, homophobic and xenophobic.

Some are scared because of 9-11 and DimSon's terra, terra, terra campaign.

These folks are not unlike those in other states who vote Republican. Georgia is a huge state (biggest east of the Mississippi) and is very varied both racially, ethnically, geographically and economically. Not everyone is a Republican here. The GOP redistricted us (federal and state) and used Diebold to gain power by stealing the 2002 elections.

affect attitudes there. I was raised by southern parents in the military, so I spent all my childhood living around people from all walks. As an adult in California, I was once asked about some habits I have and told they are unique to the south. I had no idea. But I know I could not live in the south today. Given the choice I opted for California.(coastal Cali which is different from inland Cali)

38. His polls will drop even further NATIONWIDE...since immigration policy
...particularly since historically, Hispancs have voted primarily Republican. NOT NOW, for sure. Which goes to show how little the Repug party plans on relying on "true polling" in '06 or '08. Subtract out the rather substantial Hispanic vote, and the Women vote (right-to-choose control over their own body)...and NO "base" remains for Repugs at all. Could put them in MINUS-double-digits.
