She's Baaack: Judith Miller Writing About WMD for the 'WSJ'
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002503519

The first of a two-part opinion piece by former New York Times reporter Judith Miller for the Wall Street Journal appeared Tuesday. The subject is not Iraq weapons of mass destruction, but those belonging to Libya, North Korea and Iran.

... Miller holds that the Bush administration, in trying to control nuclear programs in North Korea and Iran, should "recall how Libya was persuaded to renounce terrorism and its own weapons of mass destruction programs, including a sophisticated nuclear program purchased almost entirely from the supplier network run by Abdul Qadeer Khan, the 'father'' of Pakistan's bomb."

2.  Not content with destruction of the NYT's reputation, she's moved on
to other papers. Is she on a one-woman rampage to destroy journalism in the US? Not that the WSJ's op-ed had far to sink. Who could possibly believe anything this tool has to say?

8. That is not nice at all
You have to find some way of complimenting her-like saying that the reason her bangs are so high is so that she can more easily clean the ming off her face before going to her next source to receive from them.

4. When she awakes from her horrible nightmare about her hands
covered in the blood of the war she helped create I certainly hope that she can calm her soul by knowing that her life here is a breeze compared to the firey hell she is going to spend eternity in.

That was a very wordy way around not using a certain word that might offend some here.

11. Ever notice how these people never actually go away?
Hell, we could sweep the Congress in 2006, win the presidency in 2008, and yet, somehow, I bet you that these people would still not disappear. They would just think of it as a sabbatical, while they took nice cushy jobs at the Heritage Foundation, AEI, or as Fox News "contributors", or on corporate boards, anything that gives them a pedestal to keep on bumping their gums and spreading their filth.

12. wasn't that the assignment that Miller got from Libby?
"You went into jail in the summer. It is fall now. You will have stories to cover--Iraqi elections and suicide bombers, biological threats and the Iranian nuclear program. Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work---and life. Until then, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers."

reminds me of that Charles Bronson movie, Telefon - where they woke up the spy plants with poetry:

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

13. But...but...but....LIBYA is our FRIEND now!!!!!
Because they have OIL!!!! Let Pan Am flights and Lockerbie crashes be bygones!!!

Funny how this old article coincided with increased discussions over bring Libya back into the community of nations: http://www.energybulletin.net/3545.html

Race begins for Libya's oil
by Tom Nicholls

THE world's biggest energy companies are preparing to fight it out for a stake in Libya's alluring oil and gas industry.

Of 122 companies that registered to apply for oil and gas exploration permits under the latest government licensing programme, 63 have been given the green light to submit bids, says Tarek Hassan-Beck, a top executive at the Stateowned National Oil Corporation (NOC).

The list is a roll-call of the world's top oil firms. BP, Royal Dutch/Shell, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil are in the running, as well as smaller explorers such as Marathon Oil. Industry insiders expect China's State-owned energy companies to provide US and European rivals with stiff competition. ...

AND VOILA!!!!!

U.S. ties may aid Libya oil revival
Scrapping WMD means technology for Gadhafi, access for Americans

By CHRIS BALTIMORE
Reuters News Service

WASHINGTON - The United States' move Monday toward normalized relations with OPEC member Libya should help the African nation in its quest to expand its crude oil production capacity, experts said.

Culminating a years-long rapprochement, Washington will reopen an embassy and remove Libya from a list of state sponsors of terrorism, rewarding the longtime pariah nation for scrapping its weapons of mass destruction programs.

Libya produces about 1.6 million barrels per day of crude oil, which puts it toward the rear of the pack of OPEC's 10 members. Led by the one-time U.S. antagonist Moammar Gadhafi, Libya badly needs foreign investment in its energy industry, estimated at about $30 billion. Libya has not pumped more than 2 million barrels of crude per day since the 1979 oil price shocks.

The lifting of sanctions will make it easier for U.S. companies to ship in high-tech gear that could breathe new life into Libya's fields, many of which have languished from two decades of underinvestment and neglect.....

But oh, how cynical I am....the rapproachment with Libya had NOTHING to do with oil, just as the failed war in Iraq had nothing to do with it, either!

Of course, we don't DO business with rogue nations, so the easiest way to get at that black gold is to take them off the list!

Or their readers? Whether from editorial boards, or opinion hacks, they want affirmation of their beliefs. Believe me. They're quoted on this Christo-fascist board ad-nauseum http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zeroforum?id=88

article. mentioned nothing about the trial lawyers who negotiated the real settlement with Libya over the Scotland airplane bombing in the 90s and 2000s. The article was essentially false history. so what else is new.
