Hatch: Court Briefed on Bush Surveillance
Hatch: Court Briefed on Bush Surveillance

Tuesday May 16, 2006 9:16 PM

By KATHERINE SHRADER

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - Two judges on the court that approves warrants for intelligence
surveillance were told of the broad monitoring programs that have raised recent
controversy, a Republican senator said Tuesday.

Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said that at least two of the chief judges on the secretive
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court had been informed since 2001 of the
White House-approved National Security Agency operations.

"None raised any objections, as far as I know," said Hatch, an Intelligence Committee
member who was chosen to a select panel to oversee the NSA's work.

When asked if the judges somehow approved the operations, Hatch said,
"That is not their position, but they were informed."

1. hatch is a lying piece of shit
who, if a video was shown of Smirk rogering a 5-year-old on the WH lawn, would say, "I simply don't see where this rises to the level of prosecution".

2. And so the whitewash begins in earnest....
I wonder if any of these repukes would have been half as accomodating if it were a Clinton that had violated everyone's fourth amendment rights...

3. So fucking WHAT?
If the judges weren't being asked to approve a warrant, or grant a petition, "informing" them isn't worth shit. "Hey judges, we just want you to know, we're doing things that we aren't bringing before the court."

"Well, if you aren't bringing it before the court, why pigeonhole me in the hallway to tell me?"

"Because we to give Orrin Hatch a means to imply your complicity".

"You cocksucker, I'm not approving anything!"

"Tell anybody and we'll prosecute you for leaking secrets."

"Right. I resign".

"Fine. Just don't tell anyone why. Good fucking riddance, we don't use you guys anyway."

10. Hiding the fact they don't CARE if it's illegal.
Hatch doesn't WANT to know what's going on, doesn't WANT to know if it's illegal. He's all for the fascism.

12. Don't think so but it sure sounds like a likely scenario doesn't it
and its probably closer to the truth than the dribble coming out of Hatch's mouth.

9. Yeah, they leave that part out, don't they.
"We briefed them, but we won't say what we told them, or what they said in response. Oh, and we won't tell you which judges, or how many."

Oh, okay. Go ahead and spy on me then.

15. So what!
Amendment IV. "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses and papers, and effects, against
unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Seems pretty clear to me, how can anyone who claims to clearly understand the second amendment, not understand
the same clear language in the fourth amendment?
It was just as applicable to George III, as well as
George XLIII.

Edited on Tue May-16-06 04:57 PM by PSPS
According to Verizon and Bell South, they didn't give out any records!! This is what happens when the web of deceit gets out of control.

What a load. So much for Poindexter's "Department of Truth Maintenance."
