Village life has been turned upside down in Sedgefield ahead of an expected Presidential visit on Friday - and some folk are not happy.
They're fuming at the massive security operation disrupting a normally serene community.
Preparations for President Bush's arrival in Tony Blair's constituency on Friday has divided the village.
Residents have had to deal with a growing police presence and - in some cases - requests to search their homes.
Dozens of uniformed and plain-clothes police officers were sealing off drains yesterday as part of the security sweep. Council officials and utility contractors accompanied police equipped with blowtorches and tar as they blocked manhole covers and inspected the area.

Villager Peter Cook, 57, was critical of the visit after being questioned by police who came to his door.
The psychologist has posted a row of "Stop Bush" posters across the windows.
He said he agreed to give local police his name and date of birth, but not his occupation. "They wanted to come in and asked what was in the house," said Mr Cook. "They asked me some questions about whether I had any firearms in the house and if there were any toys which could be mistaken for firearms.
"I decided I wasn't going to co-operate just as a way of making a protest against the visit.
