Hundreds branded criminals due to mix-up |
|
LONDON (Reuters) - The government, already under pressure over a series of blunders in its immigration and prison services, has confirmed it wrongly branded around 1,500 innocent people as criminals due to a computer mix-up. It said the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), which carries out checks on people who have applied for jobs working with children or vulnerable adults, had confused the innocent people with convicted criminals because they had similar or identical names http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/latest/tm_objectid=17110380%26method=full%26siteid=94762%26headline=hundreds%2dbranded%2dcriminals%2ddue%2dto%2dmix%2dup-name_page.html

1. Now where have I heard this before? |
|
Oh yes, in Fl during the 2000 selection. Jeb and Cruella had the same attitude as this fool:
We make no apology for erring on the side of caution. We are talking about the protection of children and vulnerable adults," a Home Office spokesman said.

4. According to Scalia, actual innocence |
|
is not a reason to stop an execution. washingtonpost.com: The back of your book says: "Incredibly, according to many trial judges, 'actual innocence' is not grounds for release from prison". Can you explain that?
Peter Neufeld: There is a difference between challenges to a conviction based on procedural errors as opposed to factual innocence. In the former, the accused may have committed the crime but nevertheless failed to receive a fair trial. In the latter, the man simply didn't commit the crime. In Herrera v. Collins, Justice Renquist makes the remark about "actual innocence", a position more strongly held by Justice Scalia. Nevertheless we believe that a majority of the Court would think differently when confronted with persuasive evidence of "actual innocence". http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/liveonline/00/authors/neufeld0228.htm

That is the hallmark of the right; all show and no go. They worship the symbols and procedure with great pomp but have no clue of their relevance to that for which they stand or what the goal of their procedures is. They make the greatest show of their indignant opposition to burning the flag as they desecrate everything it stands for, put innocent people behind bars by the millions based on their appearance and demeanor alone while well dressed criminals walk the halls of power helping themselves to our nation's, and other nation's, wealth.
They are cheaters. They are the guy who sat next to you in school and copied off your paper just to pass with a c and otherwise made a show of understanding but in reality never had anything more than that facade. To hang on to the stolen power they coveted so much they will fight exposure at all costs with false indignation, shifting the blame to others, creating false alarms, murder and mayhem of every sort.

Felon list, and more recently 'lost' the IDs of over 100,000 people. What a dangerous concept these data mining companies are ~ stealing the personal information of every single citizen, and as if that wasn't bad enough, 'losing' it, not reporting the loss, and exposing people to identity theft. Not to mention denying innocent people the right to vote, by branding them as 'felons' and even worse, denying the country its right to have the man they chose as president ~
If this is a result of a data mining company, it's just one more reason to pass legislation making them illegal, imo.
