Doolittle among incumbents facing tough primary fights
Despite gerrymandered House district, scandals haunt many congressmen

By Erica Werner
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON - Republican Rep. John Doolittle of Rocklin called disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff a good friend and was one of former Majority Leader Tom DeLay's strongest allies.

Those connections are causing trouble for Doolittle as he seeks a ninth term in Congress. Although favored to win, Doolittle is among a handful of incumbents in California's 53 congressional districts who have drawn energetic challengers in the June 6 primary or November general election.

Two races have drawn the most attention -- the San Diego campaign to replace ex-Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who is in prison on bribery charges, and the contest against House Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo, R-Tracy. But despite gerrymandering that resulted in mostly noncompetitive House districts in California, several other spirited contests are shaping up.<snip>

"John Doolittle only responds to those people who have made major contributions to his campaign," Holmes said Friday. "We feel that he has been taken over by the big money inside the beltway."<snip>

1. In the end McPherson's machines will give Doolittle & Pombo victories!
Edited on Sun May-21-06 06:15 PM by LaPera
Regressive con McPerson was appointed(by republican Governor Musclehead) the job purposely, to get the electronic voting machines into the state of California with orders to do so from the WH...many of Rove's people are working on Arnold and McPherson's election campaigns...The easily hackable Diebold voting machines are a big part of them taking the state and keeping the CA Secretary of States office in republican hands for the 2008 presidential elections to steal a state, CA, which they can not win...

This also goes for the entire country...Dem's think they have this thing locked up and many won't even come out to vote...that's when the machines become so effective, in close races and they always, 100% of the time, the machines give it to the republicans, because it's their people who are hacking them. And Dem's have their head in the sand and don't believe it...Dem's just want to only believe these republican manipulating early polls as gospel, telling Dem's the republican are afraid and vulnerable.

Man, will the Dem's be in for another in a series of surprise the day after the elections...pointing the finger's everywhere, as the machines do the republicans dirty work...more refine and less traceable with each election.

2. Doolittle will win without crooked machines.
Never underestimate how conservative his base is in CA. Placer County is THE most conservative county in all of California. He will win easily. How easily? He is bringing VP Cheney in tomorrow (Monday 22nd) to fundraise with him. Cheney!! A man with approval levels lower than dirt, still appeals to voters in Placer County, I guess. They are charging $250 to attend and $2,000 to get a photo taken and they have already raised something like $250,000. It's enough to make you pull your hair out in frustration.

So many of those sign are all over the place, its not even funny. "Stand With Congressman Doolittle." I went house hunting with my mom the other day and saw tons of those signs in people's front lawns. I really doubt he WON"T be reelected.
