Albright critical of Bush's religious absolutism
Albright critical of Bush's religious absolutism

By Gideon Long

LONDON (Reuters) - President Bush has alienated Muslims around the world by using absolutist Christian rhetoric to discuss foreign policy issues, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright says.

"I worked for two presidents who were men of faith, and they did not make their religious views part of American policy," she said, referring to Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, both Democrats and Christians.

"President Bush's certitude about what he believes in, and the division between good and evil, is, I think, different," said Albright, who has just published a book on religion and world affairs. "The absolute truth is what makes Bush so worrying to some of us."

Bush, a Republican, has openly acknowledged his Christian faith informs his decisions as president. He says, for example, that he prayed to God for guidance before invading Iraq.

2. Doesn't even make sense...

The rat knew he was lying to get INTO Iraq. They spent countless hours cherry-picking
the intelligence and demanding that the CIA produce intelligence that supported their
warmongering plan.

He didn't pray to anyone.

He--and the rest of the PNAC vermin--decided long ago that they wanted to invade Iraq.

Junior wasn't listening to anyone, but himself.

Hey nimrod...that voice in your head--telling you to lie, murder, maim, deceive the American public, cheat, torture, lie more and kill innocent women and children---it isn't God.

Please seek immediate psychiatric attention. Preferably, someone who will put you in a straight jacket in a padded room.

Our pResident is on par with the Son of Sam, who thought his dog was telling him to murder people.

3. I no shit just had a vision when I read .........
¨straight jacket in a padded room¨. It was of the asshole prison guard in Stephen King´s ¨Long Green Mile¨. Could this be a premonition of how our dear leader will wind up?

10. It's doubtful Bush heard Gawd telling him to throw a lot of white
phosphorous down on Iraq citizens, and to build a vast embassy complex while the country grieved and suffered for so many dead loved ones, without water and light and heating or cooling, without hospitals, medicine, income, and hope, while death squads roamed the streets.

It's doubtful he got any answer to his "prayers," as he wouldn't have liked what a higher intelligence would have told him.

7. Separation of State
There is not or at least should not be any place in our
govt. for the expression of any religious belief or disbelief
by our elected leaders. It has no place in our govt. under our
constitution!

9. Is this what my Fundie relatives mean when they say Christians
are so persecuted in the media? They always were on the persecuted trip at family functions. I gladly no longer attend my wifes side of the family's functions.
