ARG: Bush's Job Approval Ratings Unchanged (Huh? Fell to 32% from 34%)
George W. Bush's job approval ratings are unchanged from April as concerns over the state of the national economy grow according to the latest survey from the American Research Group.

Among all Americans, 32% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 61% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 29% approve and 65% disapprove. Among Americans registered to vote, 32% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 61% disapprove. When it comes to the way Bush is handling the economy, 29% of registered voters approve of the way Bush is handling the economy and 65% disapprove.

A total of 75% of Americans rate the national economy as bad, very bad, or terrible, up from 67% in April, while 59% say the national economy is getting worse and 60% say the national economy will be worse a year from now.

When it comes to assessing their personal financial situations, 61% of Americans say their personal financial situations are getting worse and 54% say they expect to be worse off a year from now.

The results presented here are based on 1,100 completed telephone interviews conducted among a nationwide random sample of adults 18 years and older.

The Chart has May at Approval 32% Disapproval 61%
and shows April at Approval 34% Disapproval 60%

But according to DU's rules I have to post ARG's lying headline. So there ya go.

1. Well, we can't have Bush's numbers down to
17% and 18%, not right before an ELECTION. Right, Diebold?

2. A statistically insignificant move
That is within the margin of error.

That's the reason for the headline.

13. That's just how polling works.
According to this poll you can say with 95% confidence that Bush's approval rating is 32%, ±3%.

3. If Bush goes down, but within the margin of error
It is "unchanged". If Bush goes up, but within the margin of error, it is a "significant improvement". Such is the way of propaganda.

4. If it were Bush 32% and Kerry 30% it would be "Bush still leads Kerry."

10. It may be within the margin of error but it is still downward movement
As the approval rating goes down, the margin of error covers a different range of numbers as well. They could say "Bush Down Slightly Although Within Margin of Error" to give an accurate representation of the facts but to say unchanged is just quite simply dishonest.

That's why I called it propaganda.

6. Jesus, '75% of Americans rate the national economy as bad, very bad,
or terrible'?? How on earth, then, do 32% approve of the chimp? It should only be 25%. I guess some of that 7% are rich and already got theirs, so don't care.

7. Actually, it should be more around 1 percent
I would expect those people who are actually benefiting from this nightmare of a presidency to approve of him.

14. There are those who will give W a pass because he's a "godly man"
and there are those who will give him a pass because of 9/11, and there are those who will give him a pass because he's appointing judges who will destroy the rights of racial minorities and women, and there are those who will give him a pass because he's a "wartime president".

And, as you suggest, there are some who give him a pass because they were rich before and they're even richer now, thanks to bush looting the treasury on their behalf. They will, no doubt, be very generous in their campaign contributions this November.

All of which adds up to 32%+/-3%, 95% of the time.

8. * keeps talking about a strong economy, but from what I can see
the markets are essentially unchanged from when he took officeand headed down. He has yet to create a single job beyond what is needed to keep pace with population growth.

9. Big brother is watching so pay attention!
from 34 to 32 is "unchanged"
from 34 to 33 is a "bump"
from 34 to 34 is "soaring"

Apparently you are not watching your tv's enough. How can the Ministry of Truth do its job if you won't pay attention?!

For Shame!
