French are rudest, most boring people on earth: British poll
Edited on Mon May-22-06 07:41 PM by Orrin_73
LONDON (AFP) - The French have been voted the world's most unfriendly nation by a landslide in a new British poll published. They were also voted the most boring and most ungenerous.

A decisive 46 percent of the 6,000 people surveyed by travellers' website Where Are You Now (WAYN) said the French were the most unfriendly nation people on the planet, British newspapers reported.

The Germans have no to reason to celebrate the damning verdict. They came second on all three counts.

While most said Spain was the foreign country where they would most like to live, they said the Spaniards were nearly as unfriendly and ungenerous as the French.

To add insult to injury, British newspaper The Daily Telegraph put the boot in on Saturday by saying in an editorial that the French stank.

There has always been a rivalry between the brits and the french, I think that the poll is slanted because of that.

Edited on Mon May-22-06 07:40 PM by NJ Democrats
I bet they really like us! With the exception of our food as they voted the United States the most unstylish with the worst food.

8. 'Boorish', maybe sometimes, 'boring', I think not. Bonus joke below:
Tourism is down in France. It's gotten so bad the French have had to start being rude to one another.

(rim shot, please.)

9. But they have the most beautiful city in the world...
Edited on Mon May-22-06 07:48 PM by NNadir
...some of the world's finest museums, the most spectacular cuisine, the most successful clean energy program in Europe, one of the lowest carbon dioxide release energy intensities, a history of producing many of the world's greatest mathematicians, some of the original philosophers on human rights, the world's first great women physicists, some of the world's greatest literature in the form of drama, poetry, and prose, one of the premier world mass transit systems including the TGV, and one of the best commercial rockets.

Oh yeah, they refused to participate in a war to kill lots of people in order to remove nonexistent weapons of mass destruction in a prominent Arab country that is now falling apart.

Other than that, I would have to agree, they are boring.

15. I am amused at the Brits calling the French boring.
It all depends on what group you are talking about, who is boring. Some groups are, some aren't, overall no country is boring, but the Brits calling the French boring is amusing to me.

13. Rude? My whole family is French, they never even raise their voices
when angry, let alone curse, or become "rude" with you. They simply use progressively longer and longer words, in an increasingly clipped, indignant manner commensurate with their stage of anger. If it gets beyond that they won't speak to you at all... very strict rules about this in my youth.

I think the Brits are jealous. You know, they have really nasty food. ;)
