'Smart bombs' target empty Iraq buildings
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2001796391_iraqnotes20.html

BAGHDAD, Iraq — U.S. military leaders intensified their get-tough campaign yesterday by dropping some of their most powerful bombs on vacant buildings in Baghdad.
The coalition has again begun using massive and costly "smart bombs," ground-strafing AC-130 gunships and heavily armed Apache helicopters for the first time since the march to Baghdad. The display of force is intended to intimidate insurgents, U.S. officials said, but it has also frightened some city residents and surprised some military analysts.

"If your intent is only to blow up the building, then why don't you send in some engineers and blow up the buildings?" wondered Dana Robert Dillon, a senior policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington, D.C., think tank.
<snip>

These smart bombs run about $1 Million each. If they need vacant buildings blown up, I'll do it for $500,000.00. It would save my country money and put someone unemployed back to work.

1. Because...
the war mongering squatter buffoons in the WH are using "shock and awe" tactics. They are trying to intimidate the freedom fighters but this will make them fight harder.

3. because the companies that make smart bombs are bush contributors.
it's simple. bushco is driven by the self-worshipping PNAC, the campaign donors, and mafia-style mentality. it's not about doing what's right, or doing what makes sense, or being efficient, or thinking about something before taking action. it's all about being as wasteful as possible to use up reserves of everything so they can continue to empty the treasury into the pockets of huge war-machine corporations and their oil buddies. they are operating this administration as if the US treasury is a giant credit card and they're a trophy wife on a binge spending spree.

4. Why are only the NeoConservative Whores invited on Whore TV stations?
I've been saying this for days! Why are our Democratic leaders Daschle, Pelosi, Dean, General Ken 'Clark' Lay... speaking out against this insanity?
1. Endangering soldiers lives by running useless missions. No objective.
2. Could be shot down for nothing.
3. Ordnance could miss uselss target.
4. Ordnance is usually a toxic substance for people and the environment.
5. Waste of money that could be used to create jobs in the US. Pay for the 45,000,000 Americans with no health coverage. Hire lawyers to put the real Ken Lay in prison...
6. I wonder if the word spreading on the streets of Iraq is, 'The US is doing the same thing the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians. They're here to take our land and kill us not to bring Democracy.'
