Car Leather Supplier Will Cut 315 Jobs In Move To Mexico
"GST AutoLeather Inc. of Hagerstown, Md., a leading supplier of leather to the automotive industry, said Wednesday that it's moving its U.S. cutting operations to Mexico, eliminating as many as 315 jobs in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

GST will close cutting plants in Williamsport, Md., and Reading, Pa., early next year. The Maryland plant has 215 workers, and the Pennsylvania plant has 100, GST said. GST employs 2,300 people worldwide; most are in the United States."

Komo Machine issues layoff warnings

SAUK RAPIDS -- Komo Machine Inc. could have significant layoffs within 60 days as part of a plant restructuring.

Employees and state and city officials received warning of potential layoffs in a letter Wednesday.

Komo primarily makes computer numerically controlled routers for cutting wood, metal and other materials used in the cabinet and countertop industries.

The company did not specify the number of employees or affected positions, said Todd Schultz, Sauk Rapids' community and economic development director. The plant had 175 employees as of August.

The head of Komo's parent company, PMC Global Inc., said the layoff notice is partly related to negotiations for outsourcing work to China.
