U.S. to R.P.: Don’t pull out of Iraq

----------------------snip-----------
Washington has sought assurances from the Philippine government that Filipino contingents will remain in Iraq despite the attacks launched by Iraqi insurgents on the U.S.-led coalition forces.

U.S. Ambassador to Manila Francis Ricciardone requested a ‘working call’ with Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas Ople Thursday to confirm news reports that the Philippines is pulling out its humanitarian contingent from Iraq due to continuous attacks on U.S. soldiers.

“The contribution of the Philippine humanitarian contingents is very vital in helping the Iraqis to further strengthen their efforts to form a new government,” Ricciardone told reporters after meeting with Ople.

Today published a report early this week quoting a Filipino diplomat as saying that the Philippines is preparing to pull out its humanitarian contingents from Iraq owing to the attacks against U.S. soldiers.

1. This is so sad
These aren't troops who are pulling out, these are humanitarian workers. Only the most twisted could take pleasure in a worsening humanitarian situation. We need to establish security, yesterday, for the sake of the Iraqi people. Why the hell are we pulling troops out?

2. Well, it appears that we are considered infidels
and are not wanted in Iraq.

It should have been clear to anyone prior to the illegal invasion and perhaps it is becoming more clear to the ideologues who consider that their invasion forces are "welcome" to shower such recipient countries with "democracy".

I think the Iraqis, after a period of bloody civil strife, will get their country on track as a majority of them wish--an islamic fundamentalist government. Which is why the U.S. installed Saddam in Iraq 35 years ago....to prevent what the majority wanted.

Do I like it? No. Its unfortunate for the minority there. Let's be clear about this. We DID NOT go there to install "democracy". Only a fool living in a fantasy could believe this is possible or was our goal. We went there to take their oil.

We need to leave now.

3. The Americans are the problem
and once they leave iraq, the place will then be safe for the humanitarian workers.

Besides it is not as if the trigger-happy Americans are being nice to the "bleeding hearts" who are helping the "enemy."
