Thousands Protest Iraq War in London
By JANE WARDELL, Associated Press Writer

LONDON - Tens of thousands of demonstrators marched through the heart of London on Thursday, toppling a 17-foot tall papier mache statue of President Bush to show their anger for the Iraq war and Prime Minister Tony Blair 's support of the invasion. <snip>

Many in the crowd said Thursday's bombings in Istanbul, which killed more than two dozen people, strengthened their resolve to oppose U.S.-British policy in Iraq.

"There have been more and more bombings since the action in Iraq and more terrorism," said Mischa Gorris, a 37-year-old London lawyer. "You will never change the hearts and minds of terrorists by bombing them. This is what you will get." <snip>

The march took almost two hours to clear its starting point at the University of London. The Stop the War Coalition, which organized the march, said 200,000 people participated; the police estimate was 70,000. <snip>

But some protesters said U.S.-British policy in Iraq was helping fuel terrorist attacks. "It wouldn't have happened without Iraq. ... America is creating their own terrorists," said Ziggy Dlabal, a German sociologist who lives in London. <snip>

5. Bush Quote
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 02:42 PM by mrfrapp
from yahoo story:

"All I know is that people in Baghdad weren't allowed to do this until recent history."

Is he suggesting that Saddam Hussein wouldn't have allowed Iraqis to protest against George Bush? That's got to be wrong.

10. Yeah -- 1 guy sleeps with a teenager (IF guilty) vs 200,000 at protest
weighed by money, perhaps? No, weighed by fluff factor.

7. Just got home from work, and looked forward to watching the covereage...
.. only to see that all the cable news channels are focused on some plane in a dark hanger, wondering if Michael Freaking Jackson is on it.

What a sad, sad place we live in. Sad.

Luckily, I just flipped on News International, and they're covering it. No word of Jacko from the international press!

13. Love that indymedia coverage and samba bands
"(16:16): The crowd are reported to have knocked over the barriers at Kingsway. Thousands of people and a samba band have taken over the street and the police have lost control."

http://www.indymedia.org.uk

This has to be as big as any three football riots combined.

19. CNN International did a David Frost interview.
Nothing but praise for Bush. 1000%. He said Bush speaks so well. High level language. No hesitation. Clear, precise language. Intelligent. Frost can't understand why anyone would say Bush in not able to speak well.

Bush is so moral that protests don't affect him.

Frost said the protest in England was minor. Only a 100,000. And of the 25 people interviewed only 2 were British. (Guess Frost forget about the 1.5-2 million protests before the war.) Frost said more which implied the entire protest was nothing because it wasn't British citizens. (I forgot the exact wording.)

(Now I realize why Nixon chose him. He's just a Power Elite White Man's Whore. I'm sure Frost is a deep cover Shadow Government agent. I just couldn't believe the things I heard him say.

"Blair
70% for Blair 30% against war.
War starts 70% for Blair 30% against.
Now 70% against Blair 30% for but just wait until he gets it right."

These Whores are just going to keep lying/spinning and they don't care how many of our children die!
