Washington DC (AHN) - President Bush has invited relatives of some of the 40 passengers and crew members who are depicted in the film "United 93" to come to a screening of the movie at the White House Tuesday night.

Based on the tragedies of 9/11, "United 93" is about the drama aboard a plane that crashed in rural Pennsylvania while its passengers were trying to fight against hijackers.

"The president has always said that those who were on the flight, that the passengers and crew members of the flight, were heroes," said White House spokesman Dana Perino.

My wife and I lost a child, and we hid out in our home for a while, trying to deal with it. We shunned going out in public in our grief because we didn't want to face people.
Our pastor came to visit and said we should come to church that sunday. We explained how we felt. Guess what he did?
In the middle of the service, he made us stand up in front of everyone and in excruciating detail told of our loss and for everyone to pray for us.
We weren't emotionally ready to handle that, and we broke down crying. After the service, we just wanted to get out of there. the Pastor snagged us on our way out and he was BEAMING! he said "isn't it great how you guys brought the church together like that?"

we never went back. No one has the right to use your grief to better themselves.

I really liked it (can't really say "enjoyed" it ... I felt like I was going to be sick during it). It was well done, well acted ... showed confusion on the part of the military and flight controllers ... I found it very moving.

I can only know part of what happened up there, according to the phone calls to family members, etc. But it's a good film.

Now, as far as Bush showing it to family members at the White House ... TOTAL photo op. TOTAL manipulation of the media.

The military wasn't even informed of 93's hijack status until several minutes after 93 crashed, which makes it a lonely job to be a conspiracy theorist, I suppose.

No authority for fighter jets to engage airliners was granted the military until fifteen minutes after the crash of 93. At the time of the crash the prevailing ROE called for visual ID and tailing only...not that it mattered, because no fighter jets were within 100 miles of the crash site at the time the plane went down.

The passengers on 93 took matters into their own hands because they got on their cellphones and airfones and found out what had happened to the WTC and Pentagon. They realized that no one in the government or military was going to be doing anything for them.

By their actions, these passengers made it essentially impossible for future hijackers to commandeer passenger jets as guided missiles again - a gift to us all. Anyone who disses this film because they think it glorifies Bush has not seen the film.

You would be maligning the integrity of the National Transportation Safety Board in addition to the Commission staff, but insult is easy; it's critical thinking and judgment that take effort. The conclusions reached about United 93 are based on multiple analyses of radar, the flight data recorder, the cockpit voice recorder, infrared satellite data, and air traffic control transmissions. Multiple passengers on board UAL93 placed telephone calls during the hijacking and the content of those calls corroborates the physical evidence. The calls also documented the discussions among the passengers about what to do, the decision to storm the cockpit, and the strategy that would be used. Presumably you will say that all the family members of the hijacked passengers who received calls were also in on the conspiracy, and that they all lied about what they were told by the victims.

You would also be left with a bit of a logic problem as to why a secret cabal in the US government would orchestrate 9/11 and then shoot down one of the planes before it could carry out its mission.

But that wouldn't stand in your way, ultimately. Mythology is mother's milk to the true believer. Your kind frightens me. As Voltaire said, those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

I'm prepared to abandon my conclusions should actual evidence surface to contradict that which has already been gathered and analyzed. I'm not going to hold my breath.
