Secret Service quiet about man arrested near Cheney (for being different)
BEAVER CREEK - The U.S. Secret Service is offering no details about the arrest of Steven Howards, who they allege acted strangely around Vice President Dick Cheney on Friday during an economic summit in Beaver Creek.

. . .

On Monday, another spokesman for the Secret Service refused to say what "wasn't quite right" about Howards' demeanor and whether federal charges were brought against Howards. "No further comment," said the spokesman, Jonathan Cherry.

. . .

An article from the Airport Revenue News on the Clean Airport Partnership's Web site (www.cleanairports.com) includes a photo of Steven Howards. That photo matches a separate photo of Howards provided by the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.

According to a biography about Howards on the Website, he founded the Clean Airport Partnership, a nonprofit group based in Lakewood, Colo. devoted to improving environmental quality and energy efficiency at airports. Howards also serves as executive director of the nonprofit.

Two phone messages left for Howards at the Clean Airport Partnership were not returned Monday afternoon.

6. A true amateur
should have know that wooden stakes would not work. You need to put it into the heart and that is something that Cheney is missing.

as a fellow PNACer was smothering newborn puppies in a burlap sack, and this guy was "different" cuz he wasn't laughing.

12. Steven Howards' bio
http://www.cleanairports.com/credentials.htm#

Steven Howards is Executive Director and founder of CAP. He has over 25 years of experience in the environmental field and has been trained in group faciliation by Interaction Associates of San Francisco.

During his tenure at CAP, Howards has authored or co-authored a variety of reports on airport environmental issues including: Addressing the Environmental and Land Use Issues of Airport Growth (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1999); Expanding the Use of Alternative Fuel Vehicles at Airports (U.S. Department of Energy, 2001); Airports as Niche Markets for AFVs (National Renewable Energy Laboratory, 2001); The 10 Airport Survey: Energy Use, Policies, and Programs for Terminal Buildings (U.S. DOE, 2003); and he has conducted case studies for DOE on energy efficiency programs at Austin-Bergstrom and Seattle-Tacoma International Airports (2003 and 2004).

Mr. Howards originated, refined, and trademarked the concept of the Green Airport Initiative with the assistance of Mr. Sandy Webb, obtaining financial support from DOE, EPA, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the U.S. Congress.

Mr. Howards has co-authored two reports for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on implementation of the Green Airport Initiative (2001-2003); a report to the Broward County Commission Validating the Assumptions and Conclusions of the Environmental Impact Statement for the Proposed South Runway Extension and another on Building a Green Airport (both 2003). Mr. Howards has also secured diverse support which has enabled CAP to present a variety of successful, national and regional conferences on timely environmental issues including airport growth (Chicago), advanced technology vehicles (New York City, Denver and Dallas (2), and energy efficiency (scheduled for fall, 2004 in Seattle).

Prior to founding CAP in 1998. Mr. Howards served as a private consultant to the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, other regulatory agencies, and private sector companies. He was also director of the air pollution control agency for metro Denver. Among other responsibilities, he reviewed plans for the construction of Denver International Airport and its E-470 access corridor to insure environmental compliance.

Prior to moving to Denver, Mr. Howards served six years as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. on air, water, and toxics issues. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in environmental policy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (magna cum laude) and a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

16. Founding a non-profit? Yeah, how does that work?
Clearly this guy was some deviant nut who thinks society should be structured to take care of as many people as possible, when we all know that it should be structured to service a lucky few at the top! I hope this guy and his nutty ideas are never, e-e-e-e-ever heard from again. God bless Dick Cheney.

17. Devil's advocate, or something...
...but I tend to think, on balance, the Secret Service transcends politics. Maybe I'm over-glorifying them, but the ones I've met are so dedicated to their singular protection task, it's astounding.

What am I prattling on about? :D I think, while it seems odd, we should wait for more info before canonizing Howards or demonizing the agents. You just never know, good people do go off the deep end from time to time. And what, really, could be more frustrating than to be an environmentalist during the * administration?

18. where has mr. Howards rights gone?
arrested without due process? WTF? "Wasn't quite right". Guess that fits me as well as most of my friends. Hope he returns to the home of the duped but he's probably in some eastern euro country right now with chinny and the chimperor watching on remote view.
Good God, we've lost our constitution. The individual has no rights, not as long as GWBushit and the chinney are in control.

30. The Imperials can do anything and get away with it
Although I suspect they won't torture or kill this guy, because he is white. On the other hand, everyone who is not in THE PARTY are n*****s in Bushevik Amerika, so I suppose anything is possible.

Poor bastard, there's nothing more dangerous in all the Enslaved World (which now technically includes Amerika which grows more deserving of being on the list every day) than making a Tyrant uncomfortable.

Guess he's lucky this wasn't Amerika 2050, in which I suspect this man WOULD be tortured, disappeared, or both.

But stay tuned. He may be gone foreever, though I think it highly unlikey, but only because times aren't tough enough economically (yet) and we need the last of us who remember freedom to grow old and die.
