Dean steps up criticism over justification of the war in Iraq

Quad City Times

--- “If we went there under false pretenses, then American soldiers died because we weren’t given the right information,” Dean said. ---

“There is a fundamental difference of opinion here,” Dean said. “It is not the right thing to do to mislead people to get them to do something.” ---

“We need to know who else at the White House was involved in the decision to include the discredited Niger uranium evidence in your speech,” Dean said. ---

The American public deserves answers to all of these questions,” Dean said. He said if Bush isn’t forthcoming, an independent investigation should be launched. Dean rejected suggestions that polls show the public favoring the attack. “You can’t do this guided by polls,” he said.

1. I love how Dean uses Bush's words against him
<<Dean rejected suggestions that polls show the public favoring the attack.

<<“You can’t do this guided by polls,” he said.>>

Remember how Bush and the GOP ridiculed Clinton for making decisions based on polls?

Now, who looks like the person with real presidential character?

I am liking Dean more and more.

2. He essentially said "Bush Lied, People Died"
What he said: “If we went there under false pretenses, then American soldiers died because we weren’t given the right information,” Dean said.

Translation: "Bush lied, people died."

Also, both Sharpton and Graham have used the I word recently.

Go Dems!

3. * has set the stage for a candidate like Dean
Much as I love Dean, he's getting an awful lot of help from * himself, who seems to be screwing up America in a very unDean way...

what more could a candidate ask for?

4. Dems Would Not Have Voted
to over throw the bad, bad, man who killed his people when Reagan, Reagan & then Bush were in office, with the evil weapons we sold them.

I also think that if Merkuns knew prior to invasion, that Cheney and his energy gang had Iraq on thier energy plan - Dems, would definately not have voted for it.

5. Exactly!! You win the prize!
That is exactly why Cheney fought so hard in Court and delayed, delayed, delayed the production of the task force documents.

7. Think it was a little deeper than just the war in Iraq
There are references to their planning of some of these thing pre 1998. Check out when PNAC was in its in just its preliminary stages, the dates are important, what might be less important is what the article say about it. Lots of spin but has some nuggets of truth.

The information gained by a FOIA was minuscule and some parts were redacted. Can you believe they have a meeting about energy with mostly oil men and in the report, Iraq was not discussed but they have detailed maps on it. Much more information is needed but already some it is getting pretty cut and dry about what was going on. The dates fit right in with timelines with 9/11 also

U.S. tallied up assets well before war
Documents list Cheney group's activities

(snip)
WASHINGTON -- The energy task force led by Vice President Dick Cheney was examining maps of Iraq's oil assets in March 2001, two years before the United States led an invasion to oust Saddam Hussein, newly released documents show.
(snip)(snip)
The panel's final report, issued in May 2001, "contained maps of key energy producing regions in the world, including Russia, North America, the Middle East and the Caspian region," a Commerce spokesman said.
The report also included a map of Saudi Arabia's export pipeline routes. It did not, however, discuss Iraq. (snip)

They can also can kiss my ass, I will not give up my civil rights so oil company executives can steal oil from other countries to get rich.
