Santorum, Trailing in Re-Election Bid, Seeks to `Shake Up' Race
Santorum, Trailing in Re-Election Bid, Seeks to `Shake Up' Race

July 7 (Bloomberg) -- The first television ad of Senator Rick Santorum's re-election campaign casts the Pennsylvania Republican as a staunch opponent of ``liberals like Ted Kennedy'' who favor helping undocumented immigrants attain legal status.

The ad doesn't mention that leaders of Santorum's party, including President George W. Bush and Senator John McCain, also favor that immigration approach. Nor does it mention that Santorum was one of only four Republicans to vote with Massachusetts Senator Kennedy and his fellow Democrats to raise the minimum wage.

Trailing by as many as 18 percentage points in polls, Santorum, the Senate's No. 3 Republican, is in try-anything mode. In addition to his immigration and minimum-wage stances, he has broken with Bush over treatment of terrorist suspects, while citing old, non-functioning chemical weapons shells buried in Iraq as justifying the U.S. invasion of that country -- a claim not even the administration has made.

Santorum's strategy is simple, said Terry Madonna, a political scientist at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster who runs the school's Keystone Poll: ``He's got to shake up the environment, or he's going to lose.''

4. If you can't beat your opponent
run against Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton instead. That's what we are seeing in Nebraska too with Pete Ricketts. It's working some, but not as well as he needs it to work. Hopefully it will be the same story in PA.

6. Bye, Bye P-Rick
It's almost at the point where Bob Casey doesn't even need to campaign. Every time P-RIck opens his mouth he's proving that he is William Burrough's Talking A-Hole!

13. he and his wife Karen live in VA
they keep a what i would call a "political token" home in PA to keep residency in our state...but their primary residence is a mansion in VA.

and as the other poster pointed out...they cyber schooled their kids and had a poor school district give them $67,000 to do it...pure robbery

12. Maybe he could get the Japanes PM to campaign with him and do an Elvis
rendition of "All Shook Up".

Artist: Elvis Presley Lyrics
Song: All Shook Up Lyrics

A well I bless my soul
What's wrong with me?
I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!

My hands are shaky and my knees are weak
I can't seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck?
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!

Please don't ask me what's on my mind
I'm a little mixed up, but I'm feelin' fine
When I'm near that girl that I love best
My heart beats so it scares me to death!

She touched my hand what a chill I got
Her lips are like a vulcano that's hot
I'm proud to say she's my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!

My tongue get tied when I try to speak
My insides shake like a leaf on a tree
There's only one cure for this body of mine
That's to have the girl that I love so fine!

14. Sanitarium is sounding a little desperate.
Invoking Ted Kennedy's name will do nothing to improve his chances. Only wingnuts irrationally hate the Kennedys, and they are voting for the POS anyway. Probably never crossed the idiot's feeble mind that most voters have nothing against Ted and don't like to see the Kennedy name denigrated.

17. Thats the Strategy - run against Ted Kennedy
That seems to be the strategy for a number of conservatives this year - they don't think they can win running against their real opponent, so they decide to run against "Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton."

18. There's the commercial:
"Poor Rick Santorum. He thinks he is running against Teddy Kennedy.
Someone should tell Rick that Teddy Kennedy doesn't represent Pennsylvania, because
Teddy Kennedy doesn't live IN Pennsylvania.
Hmmm....
Maybe if Rick Santorum lived in Pennsylvania he would know that.

Send Rick Santorum home, if he can find it"
