Jimmy Carter, wife mark 60th anniversary

By DOUG GROSS, Associated Press Writer Fri Jul 7, 4:42 AM ET

ATLANTA - Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, fresh off of a trip to Nicaragua to monitor preparations for November's elections, plan to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Friday with a quiet day in their Georgia hometown.

In the long line of American presidents and first ladies, the Carters have the second longest marriage. George and Barbara Bush have been married for 61 years.

1. the key to their long marriage is at the end...
basically Carter says that their marriage changed...(and in my opinion adapted...)

"In a recent interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the former president said the couple's relationship today is different from the early years of their marriage, when he often made decisions — including retiring from the Navy and running for state Senate — without consulting his wife.

"I was embarrassingly dominant in those days," he told the newspaper."

this says a lot about him...he is truly and incredible person....

2. I hand't read that article. I find it sooo hard to believe Jimmy
was EVER dominant!!!!!

Wven as Prez, he was a soft spoken and kind man.

4. we all change...but to actually acknowledge the change and
to have changed at all...that is a true sign of maturity in a relationship.

i have only been married 12 years...but it takes maturity and the willingness to see things differently to make it last.

3. I always thought Rosalyn was hot.
Course, I'm easy; really liked Julie Nixon Eisenhower, too. Anyway, Rosalyn and the King. Sweet.
