Angelides says he would sign gay marriage bill
SAN FRANCISCO - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides said Friday that if he unseats Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in November he would sign a bill legalizing gay marriage in California.

Angelides talked about the issue the day after New York's high court upheld that state's one-man, one-woman marriage laws and as a California appeals court prepared to consider whether a trial judge erred in declaring the state's marriage laws unconstitutional.

"I would sign the marriage equality bill because I believe if we can get behind people to build a lasting relationship, that is a good thing," Angelides said at a news conference where Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., urged voters to support him.

The California Legislature last year became the first lawmaking body in the nation to legalize gay marriage. Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill, saying it was up to voters or the courts, not lawmakers, to settle the matter.

1. Schwarzenegger got his wish. Gay marriage in CA is now on the ballot.
Angelides needed a shake up in this race and this just might be it.

2. Okay, where is all the
support for Phil Angelides on this? :)

Angelides has a position on Net Neutrality on his site, too..
"The freedom of the Internet is under attack. We cannot allow large corporations to erect tollbooths on the Internet Superhighway. The Internet is the most dynamic and innovative means of communication and commerce developed in the last fifty years. We need to ensure that the Internet’s very nature of open access remains protected."

3. hmmm I thought angelides had left the state and maybe the planet,
since he is a candidate for governor and seems to have disappeared, leaving the field entirely to arnold.

Here is a credit for his marriage stand.

Think we will see him again before Labor Day?

All I can see on tv is the "What if Westly were running?" ads.
You'd think there would've been a public event/picnic for the 4th of July with some names /media etc. Seems too quiet. I keep telling myself they have a top knotch campaign ready to unveil, any day now, any day now.

8. duh...
Finally someone starts to get the talking points right.

Next class with Mr. Angelides, we'll talk about gay marriage being about obligations and responibilities, not just securing the same benefits (no more / no less) which straight couples take for granted (at a 55% divorce rate).

Then, we'll have Russ Feingold come in and teach the rest of the frigging Democrats about something called - TAKING A STAND.
