*BAGHDAD - U.S. troops and Interior Ministry commandos surrounded a Baghdad mosque loyal to radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, police said. The U.S. military had no immediate comment.

*BAGHDAD - Four children were killed and 38 wounded when four mortars struck an open field in the northern Baghdad district of Kadhimiya on Friday night, the U.S. military said in a statement.

*BAGHDAD - A car bomb exploded outside a Shi'ite mosque in the Hay al-Jihad district, police said, adding four people were wounded.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of six Shi'ite rag collectors were found in the mainly Sunni Baghdad district of Doura, apparent victims of sectarian violence, Interior Ministry sources said. They had gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

BAGHDAD - Three civilians were killed and five wounded when mortar rounds landed in the southern Baghdad area of Abu Dshir, a religiously mixed area, police said.

2. Mortar rounds?? What or how are they fired?
This sounds more like war than insurgents and their improvised devices and hand held firearms by a select bunch of disgruntled people.

And they call this progress. I expect anytime to hear that the rebels have rescued Saddam and made him leader again. They need someone to get things calmed down after bush's adventure.

I have visions of our troops being evacuated from the tops of buildings (green zone) and returned home, or, visions of Viet Nam evac. It all blurs together now.
