COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Bob Taft faces a public reprimand for ethics violations under an agreement his attorney has reached with the state office that monitors lawyers' behavior.

Taft, a Republican who has been an attorney since 1976, pleaded no contest last August to failing to report golf outings and other gifts while in office and was fined $4,000.

Taft would receive a public reprimand for his convictions on those misdemeanor ethics violations under an agreement forged by the governor's private attorney and the Ohio Supreme Court's disciplinary counsel.

Jonathan Coughlan, the disciplinary counsel, filed a complaint in April saying Taft's actions violated Ohio's code of professional conduct for lawyers.

1. Even the repugs hate Taft here in Ohio
The guy just plain sucks across the board.

I do applaud his ability to carry out one duty - being at the sale of champions at the state fair (helps out 4h and kids). If he just stuck to doing that things would be a helluva lot better here :)

6. He SHOULD have taken some lessons from his Grandpa.
Bob Taft had integrity, something that his grandson never had

7. What are they going to do, make him wear a scarlet "C" for Crook?
Seems to me a stiff fine and a little time in the pokey might be more appropriate. Also, why is he still governor?

9. democrat operatives, and corner sign wavers remember,
tell them that Blackwell and Taft are hand in hand in all this mess, and they'd be so making the republicans smile if they ignore the crime that's went on in Ohio and voted for Blackwell...

of course, we need paper ballots only... or this race is lost even with a 3 or 4 point lead in the polls. demand paper to whomever you speak to in government.

Which area is home to more corrupt politicians?

The State of Ohio or the city of San Diego? Anyone want to take a stab at making their case?

Sheesh I can identify with you all in Ohio!

At least these two areas are more "obvious" about their malfeisance than say places like Texas are where they still are in denial and better at covering their tracks.
