1. I don't think China would, either
But I don't think China can do much about it. A balance of power has been achieved between India and China as a result of India developing atomic weapons.

4. And as a follow up...
will we condemn our good buddies the bin laden harboring pakistanis when they test fire their version of the taepaedong-2 missile in response to the indian test?

I think not.

Yes indeed if it were not for mangos, and the excellent job pakistan is doing keeping bin laden safe, we would be all over these guys like flies on shit.

7. I forgot about the mangoes.
But then I don't particularly like mangoes. Too much stringy stuff around a big pit, then have to floss my teeth. Give me a Hawaian papaya instead.

10. Nothing. That is the point.
So why the big upset about North Korea wanting to defend itself? Doesn't every nation have the right to self defense? If so, then doesn't that imply the ability to defend oneself effectively from real threats?

5. Stealing N Korea's thunder?? So what do we do if .....
...all the countries with missiles decide to test fire them? What about the US testing its own missiles? How do we escape the world view that our opinions are hypocritical depending upon who is doing the missile testing?

Kim Il Jong must be kicking himself today. He fire all those test missiles, and now India and others have grabbed the headlines with their own test firing. Sheesh this could become expensive if he has to keep firing test missiles to remain in the headlines.

15. Look for Pakistan to test launch its Ghauri missiles next
Giving nuclear technology to China is partly why China has not endorsed sanctions on North Korea.

I guess India is now going to be rewarded US ballistic missile technology.

1st Test-Firing of New India Missile Fails
First test-firing of new Indian nuclear-capable missile fails

NEW DELHI, Jul. 10, 2006
By GAVIN RABINOWITZ Associated Press Writer

(AP) India's first test-firing of a new nuclear-capable missile was unsuccessful,
the defense minister said Monday.

Pranab Mukherjee said the Agni III missile plunged into the ocean in the Bay of Bengal,
short of its target. The minister was at the launch site, on Wheeler Island off Orissa,
during Sunday's test, which officials initially described as successful.

The Agni III is India's longest-range missile, designed to reach 1,900 miles.

In neighboring Pakistan, India's nuclear-armed rival, the government said it had been
informed of the test. The two countries regularly test-fire missiles and usually give
each other advance notice in the case of long-range launches.
