CAMARILLO, Calif. - U.S. gas prices jumped nearly 11 cents per gallon in the past two weeks with the national average for self-serve regular just shy of $3 a gallon, according to a survey released Sunday.

The average price for the grade was $2.995 per gallon Friday, up 10.73 cents in two weeks, according to the Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country. The price was less than 2 cents below the all-time high of $3.01 set Sept. 9, analyst Trilby Lundberg said.

The average mid-grade price was $3.10 a gallon while premium ran $3.20.

The lowest price for gas was $2.70 a gallon in Charleston, S.C., while the highest - $3.27 a gallon - was in Honolulu.

Among California cities surveyed, the highest average price for self-serve regular was $3.26 a gallon in San Diego. The lowest, $3.08 a gallon, was in Sacramento.

1. We are now 3.05.9 .. up six cents since this morning
We are a very small community and most commute to jobs in the big city. It's killing the fixed/middle/low income here.

I'm thinking that is the logical outcome to overwhelming greed.

Who did they vote for? Nowadays, my sympathy is strictly
rationed by the answer to that question.

3. A lot of angry people about the gas prices.
And at $3.00 a gallon, they aren't likely to forget their anger just because the oil industry happens to lower the prices a month or two before the election in November.

which is just northwest of Atlanta. But down the road in Marietta, which is next door to Atlanta, the prices were as high as $3.09 a gallon for regular. Seems the closer to Atlanta, the higher the price.

Sad to say - there will be a lot of Americans suffering with high prices caused across the market by fuel costs. BUT to look on the bright side it should help us remove the republican deathgrip on the house and senate in the fall!

Pathetic tho it is, many people do not pay attention to politics until they are feeling pain - and there will be many families feeling the squeeze of this latest fuel "crisis". Let's get some ads on the air with bush assuring amurikkka that there was NO PRICE GOUGING after Katrina.... Remember that bit? LOL!

Run it side by side with a grpahic of the record profits for the big oil companies last year.

Maybe THAT would get their attention.

I would love to see "Bush-Iraq Gas Tax" stickers on gas pumps. I wouldn't doubt that there are people out there blaming Clinton and Gore as they fill their gas tanks.

30. Meanwhile Latin America uses revenue from high oil prices to
modernize and help the poor. The Russian Federation rebuilds its military and ponders retaking it's now resource rich breakaway republics.
All the while the American military is streatched dangerously thin and can only watch as North Korea readies to lash out at a world content to watch it starve.
These are historic times all in the name of profit.

37. One strong hurricane through the Gulf and it will be $4/gallon
The oil rigs in the Gulf are still not back to 100% capacity from last year, and another hurricane would be devestating.

If a hurricane makes landfall anywhere near a refinery city, I predict $5/gallon AND rationing ala the 1970's.

Gonna be a fun, fun summer...
