Banker found dead in London park . . . .(Enron witness)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/5173228.stm

"A body found in east London parkland has been identified as banker Neil Coulbeck, sources have told the BBC.
The banker worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland, and had been questioned by the FBI about the Enron fraud case.

Police were keeping an open mind about whether the death was linked to the Enron investigation, which involved RBS subsidiary NatWest."

Do we have any "coincidence" theorists here? I don't think so.

Every theory is feasible with this crowd.

Day after day it becomes more apparent that Ken Lay is alive and well. The Empire is starting to figure out how to get away with everything, because they know the media will cover for them.

situations (likely including the billions "lost" in Iraq as well as from stolen Iraqi oil) set up in secret bank accounts around the world, and the owners of that wealth - including, perhaps, an escaped Lay or his "inheritors" - are making sure that the evidence of these secret accounts is buried very, very deep. Along with anyone who knows and might eventually talk. If Kenny Boy was murdered, it wouldn't just be the guilt of government figures that he knew too much about, but the existence and location of this secret wealth.

These guys are all about money.

15. from your link:
Mr Coulbeck was the banker at Greenwich NatWest who approved the transaction which is at the heart of the investigation into the so-called NatWest three.

and some Neil Young lyrics came to mind:

Slipping and sliding and playing domino
Lefting and then Righting, it's not a crime you know.
You gotta tell your story boy, before it's time to go.

Are you ready for the country because it's time to go?
Are you ready for the country because it's time to go?

I was talkin' to the preacher, said God was on my side
Then I ran into the hangman, he said it's time to die
You gotta tell your story boy, you know the reason why.

Are you ready for the country because it's time to go?
Are you ready for the country because it's time to go?

Neil Young

Oh, please help me,
oh please help me,
I'm livin' by myself.
I need someone to comfort me,
I need someone to tell.

I'm sorry for
the things I've done,
I've shamed myself with lies,
But soon these things
are overcome
And can't be recognized.

I left my love
with ribbons on
And water in her eyes.
I took from her
the love I'd won
And turned it to the sky.

I'm sorry for
the things I've done,
I've shamed myself with lies,
My cruelty has punctured me
And now I'm running dry.

I'm sorry for
the things I've done,
I've shamed myself with lies.
But soon these things
are overcome
And can't be recognized.

edit: Can't be recognized, Aquí no pasó nada, ¿oh no?

Mystery of leading lawyer's suicide leap from hotel
By Steve Bird and Jonathan Richards

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1970806,00,00.html

Friends of a woman who had a nearby flat are stunned by her sudden death

"Katherine Ward, a 52-year-old lawyer for Rolls-Royce, fell 100ft from the fourth floor of a four-star hotel as horrified onlookers watched

A SUCCESSFUL Rolls-Royce corporate lawyer leapt 100ft to her death from an hotel in a public suicide.

Friends and neighbours of Katherine Ward, 52, were mystified last night why the vivacious, talented and wealthy solicitor took her own life.

The woman, who was originally from America but became a British citizen five years ago and was working as a senior executive at Rolls-Royce, was clearly seen to be distressed as she clambered on to the ledge outside the fourth-floor hotel bedroom that she had booked into the night before.

She killed herself at Jurys Hotel, South Kensington, West London, less than half a mile from her flat....(more)"

"We believe know the identity of the man but detailed inquiries are ongoing to confirm this."

Now there's a peculiar quote. Especially in the face of his wife reporting him missing.

Is it that he was attacked in a disfiguring manner? (Naturally they won't say so in this case as knowlege of unpublicised details is a good way to idenify a killer.)

Or did he simply have an embolism and get munched on by some wildlife?

Or is it just a dead hobo they are using as cover while they set up witness protection?

Or are they going to do DNA tests because they think it might be a very expensive body double?

Who even needs to watch CSI these days?

47. Another Enron figure found Dead
Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 01:36 PM by shance
Even as Houstonians prepare for today's memorial service for Ken Lay, British media reports the death of another man implicated in the scandal that won't leave the headlines. (At least the British headlines?)

The body of a man believed to be linked to a US probe into a financial scandal involving NatWest has been found close to his home.

Neil Coulbeck had gone missing from his home in Woodford Green, east London, on Thursday.

Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: "The man had been interviewed by the FBI. We don't know how important to the investigtion he was but FBI sources suggest he was a pivotal character in the case."

Mr Coulbeck's body was discovered in Waltham Forest, east London. He was Head of Group Treasury at the Royal Bank of Scotland and is thought to have been a possible witness in the NatWest Three case.

The discovery comes as MPs debate the controversial decision to extradite three British bankers - dubbed the NatWest Three - to the US to face charges over the scandal. The men, who previously worked for NatWest, are accused of taking part in a multi-million pound fraud connected to the collapse of Enron.

All three - David Bermingham, Gary Mulgrew and Giles Darby - have denied any wrongdoing. They could spend up to two years in a high-security US prison awaiting trial unless they are granted bail.

The move to send them to Houston, Texas, is at the centre of a row over Britain's extradition agreement with the United States.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/enron/story/0,,1818833,00.html?gusrc=rss

I did a search on Neil Coulbeck.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

"The discovery was announced as a Commons emergency debate began on the 2003 Extradition Act, under which the three men are being extradited to the US as part of the investigation into the collapse of US energy company Enron.

It has not previously been suggested that FBI investigators had interviewed colleagues at RBS Group, but a spokesman for the company would neither confirm nor deny whether such interviews had taken place.

"We've said consistently over the last three years that we have cooperated fully with all the relevant authorities," he said. The FBI said it could not confirm details of an ongoing investigation.

The three are due to be arrested by FBI agents tomorrow and taken to be imprisoned in the US awaiting trial, although the British government has promised to stand bail for the men."

61. Banker linked to 'Natwest Three' found dead (Scotsman)
Banker linked to 'Natwest Three' found dead
THE BODY of a former Royal Bank of Scotland executive linked to the "Natwest Three" case has been found in east London.

Neil Coulbeck, a former head of group treasury at the Royal Bank of Scotland, had reportedly been questioned by the FBI about the NatWest Three case. He disappeared from his home in Woodford Green, east London, last Thursday. His body was found on Wednesday in parkland between a golf course and a wood near his home. He is thought to have taken his own life.

David Bermingham, Gary Mulgrew and Giles Darby are accused of an £11 million fraud in which their former employer NatWest, which is owned by RBS, was advised to sell part of an Enron company for less than it was worth. The trio are scheduled to face extradition to the US on Thursday over the alleged fraud.

Bermingham said the discovery "put everything that's happened to us in perspective".

He said: "One day when this is all over I'm going to be coming home to my wife and children and some poor guy is not and my heart goes out to his wife and family."

We expect US to keep us in chains, says British banker (More on the 'NatWest Three I posted in the GD a couple of days ago, but it sank like a rock.)

JAMES KIRKUP
POLITICAL EDITOR

ONE of three bankers facing extradition to the United States under controversial British laws yesterday told of his fears about the treatment they will face when they arrive in America this week.

<snip>
The three are alleged to have defrauded NatWest of £11 million in a deal with Enron, the collapsed US energy giant, by selling a Cayman Islands-based company for less than it was worth.

Despite repeated appeals from the three men, their families, MPs of all parties and senior business figures, the Prime Minister and John Reid, the Home Secretary, have refused to block or delay the extradition.

The case has sparked a political storm because the extradition will take place under the 2003 Extradition Act. That law lowered the standard of evidence the US authorities must show before Britain will agree to extradite a suspect for trial.

69. This sounds like crocodile tears
"Bermingham said the discovery "put everything that's happened to us in perspective".

He said: "One day when this is all over I'm going to be coming home to my wife and children and some poor guy is not and my heart goes out to his wife and family.""

Is this guy's death going to hurt or help the Natwest Three?

"He said that he understood almost all of the witnesses the US Department of Justice required for the prosecution of the UK bankers were employees of RBS-owned NatWest."

It sounds like the latter to me. Since this man was a witness that the FBI was "aggressively pursuing" I would speculate that his death would be handy for anyone connected with the Enron scandals, regardless of which side of the ocean we are talking about.

'NatWest three' extradition due

Three former NatWest bankers are expected to be flown to the US to face fraud charges arising from the collapse of the energy giant Enron.

Giles Darby, David Bermingham and Gary Mulgrew all deny any wrongdoing.

They are due be taken to Gatwick airport, handed over to US marshals and flown to the US. It is expected they will attend a bail hearing on Friday.

(snip)

The body of another banker, who had been questioned by the FBI as a potential witness in the Enron fraud case, was found in London on Wednesday. There is no indication that his death is linked to the case.

(snip)

Sure - "no indication that his death is linked to the case." No evidence that it isn't, either. Was the death of the banker colleague of these three Enron witnesses a crude message to shut up or else? I swear, with these people absolutely nothing is beyond possibility. They have no limits at all.
