Six killed as crime gangs wage new war in Sao Paulo (Brazil)
At least six people were killed in Sao Paulo yesterday after organised crime gangs launched a new wave of attacks on law enforcement and civilian targets.

The First Command of the Capital (PCC), a crime faction that controls many of the Brazilian city's jails and much of the state's drug trafficking, hit 73 targets.

Motorcycle snipers shot at off-duty prison guards and police officers and members of the gang threw Molotov cocktails at buses. Small bombs were set off at police stations, banks and supermarkets.

Gang members also hunted down and shot law enforcement officers and their families. Police arrested seven people, including two youths.
