Veteran Pleads Guilty to Vandalizing Cars
DENVER (AP) - An Air Force officer pleaded guilty Friday to defacing cars with bumper stickers supporting President Bush, and was given a two-year deferred sentence.

Lt. Col. Alexis Fecteau, a decorated officer who flew 500 combat hours in the Gulf War, Kosovo and Bosnia, pleaded guilty to felony mischief and must pay restitution to the owners of the damaged cars to clear his record.

Fecteau originally faced 13 charges for defacing vehicles at the Denver airport from January to July 2005. Fecteau admitted to investigators he had vandalized cars starting around the time of the November 2004 election, but pleaded guilty to a single charge of criminal mischief that named all 13 victims.

Fecteau blacked out pro-Bush bumper stickers and then spray-painted an expletive over them.

2. Yep, he should have flattened their tires!
Bush supporters are no better than Nazis, and deserving of a similar fate!

3. Vandalism is not the way.
Once open civil war breaks out, that's different.

5. Lowering yourself to their level is not the way to solve things.
If you do that, you are no better than they are!

how many people have to die before it's OK to deface a freakin' bumper sticker?

i'm sorry, people i know died while * was eating cake, as far as i'm concerned, if i were the judge, this dude would get the medal of honor

when someone you know dies, will it be open civil war then? or will you wait for cnn to tell you so?\

eh, i'm re-reading this and it sounds too hostile, wish i knew a more tactful way to put things, but no, the dude's heart was in the right place, have to admit, if i were judge, i would have fined him $20 and told him to go and wink wink sin no more

8. I'm with you
Defacing a Bush bumper sticker is considered "going too far" in protest when Bush is sending this world to hell and thousands are dying? What world am I living in?

Boy, are our priorities screwed up. No wonder there's no effective opposition in this country when ruining someone's bumper sticker is considered going too far. We're getting what we deserve.

7. I misunderstood the headline.
I thought he was putting bush bumper stickers on cars, thereby defacing them.

(Made perfect sense to me.)

9. Leave directions to the nearest recruiting station under their wipers

That would get the idea across. I suppose they would just toss them away, so you would be responsible for littering, in a way.
