Prime Minister 'met witness' (Tony Blair)
TONY BLAIR met a key witness in the cash-for-peerages investigation after the police had begun their inquiry, it was claimed yesterday.

The Prime Minister is believed to have had a personal conversation with Sir Gulam Noon on June 20 in Downing Street, about a month after the curry magnate was interviewed under caution by police.

The news that Mr Blair met someone involved formally in a police investigation into Downing Street is likely to anger the police. Scotland Yard has tried to stop all contact with donors that might disrupt their investigation, including inquiries by cross-party select committees of MPs.

1. this whole thing is absurd
throughout history, most peerages have been sold. I don't get what the big deal is.

2. What's absurd is that they think Blair isn't going to have a conversation
with a guy his government gave a peerage. They obviously have a relationship. To make a big deal about them having a conversation is kind of silly.

It reminds me of the way Clinton's phone conversation with that woman back in Arkansas were treated. What matters wasn't that Clinton talked to people who might have been witnesses. What mattered was whether he told them to lie, and he didn't do that.

If the press wants to do a story about Blair suborning perjury, then they should get their ducks in a row and do that story. If they want to throw around innuendo because they know there isn't a bigger story, then they're a bunch of assholes.
