Montreal pharmacist eighth Canadian killed in Middle East conflict
MONTREAL - The eighth member of a Montreal family has died from injuries suffered in an Israeli bomb attack in southern Lebanon, as his relatives in Canada raged against Ottawa for not denouncing Israel's actions.

Family members said Montreal pharmacist Ali Al-Akhrass died in a Beirut hospital Monday. His wife, four children, mother and uncle also died in the attack.

''I am crying for all the innocents that are dying,'' said Maysoun Al-Akhrass, her voice shaking, surrounded by sobbing members of her extended family.

''Not only my mother, my sister-in-law, my seven-year-old niece Saja, my five-year-old niece Zeinab, my three-year-old nephew Ahmad, and my one-year-old niece Salam whose name means 'peace,' my aunts, and my uncles who all perished. They all perished, because of whom? Israel.

''I am crying because my country is being destroyed because of whom? Israel. Nobody, not the media, not Mr. Harper, supported Lebanon. Nobody is telling the truth. Everybody says it is Hezbollah. Hezbollah is our protector. It is (Hezbollah) that today is trying to protect the room where my family that is Canadian (is) that is experiencing today a second Sept. 11.''
