Fire Destroys House Owned by Soldier Serving in Iraq, Four Dead

KIRKLAND, Wash. Jul 18, 2006 (AP)— Fire gutted the home of a National Guard soldier serving in Iraq, and authorities feared the four bodies found inside included those of his wife and children.

Sgt. Leonid Milkin, 29, was on his way to Washington state after being told of the fire in the suburban home east of Seattle that he had bought with his wife, Olga, 28, in 2003. He will be released from active duty as soon as possible, Maj. Philip Osterli of the Washington National Guard said Tuesday.

The victims' identities were not released Tuesday, but Osterli said the National Guard was working under the assumption that it was Milkin's family.

Neighbors reported the fire shortly before noon Monday.

3. OMG, how horrid - oh, I feel so bad for him and..........
.....I feel bad for being suspicious but this raises all kinds of red flags for me.

"It was really intense," said neighbor Donovan George. "The whole house was gone in, like, 10 minutes."

"No one had called 911 from inside the house, officials said. The bodies were all found on the second floor, Fire Marshal Grace Steuart said."

"The cause remained undetermined early Tuesday. Nothing immediately indicated foul play, Steuart said. "It was so badly damaged we have no idea what was even in the house," she said."

6. It was unusual for the ATF and others to inspect
and they are going back again to check things out. The way it's being treated does sound unusual. It does make me wonder. and last week there was an arson in Wallingford, a few houses up from an acquaintance of mine. fortunately no one hurt, that was a house under construction, but makes me wonder if people are getting ideas...?

7. Updated - Arson to cover up murder
http://mycrimespace.thetrenchcoat.com/plugin/tag/milkin
"A fire that destroyed the house of a soldier serving in Iraq was set to cover up the stabbing deaths of his wife, two sons and sister-in-law, police said. A neighbor was jailed on suspicion of homicide."
