Power Outage Disrupts Calif. Flights

LOS ANGELES -- A power outage at the Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center Tuesday disrupted flights in and out of Southern California airports, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

"We lost everything, we lost all power to phone lines, computers, everything," said Allen Kenitzer, a regional spokesman for the FAA.

The outage was reported around 6 p.m., Kenitzer said, and the cause was not known.

The center is located in the high desert near Palmdale and handles high-altitude aircraft in Southern California and parts of Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

The outage could potentially affect air traffic nationwide, Kenitzer said.

5. There's something funny (strange) about this. They are SUPPOSED to

have emergency power backup so this can't happen like it has in the past. The local news mentioned it briefly, but then nobody followed up. Like it's perfectly acceptable that there is no backup in 2006!!

I wonder if it's another feeble attempt by this PATHETIC, CRIMINAL MIS-ADMINISTRATION to fake a "terra attack". MIHOP??? Guess they wanted the Merkel incident and Bush's potty mouth off the front page.
