Poll Worker Shortage (in Florida County)
There’s an abundance of political advertising on television right now, but an apparent shortage of people to collect ballots in at least one Suncoast county.

Pasco County elections supervisor Kurt Browning says his office has enlisted 1,372 volunteers for polling places, 200 shy of what is necessary to adequately staff an election.

“We’re running up against deadline, and without additional volunteers, Pasco County will not have enough poll workers to staff the precincts in September,” Browning said.

There are currently 274,807 registered voters in Pasco County and 153 precincts.

Why the shortage? Pasco points to the calendar. The primary election is scheduled for the day after Labor Day, Sept. 5.

4. From the whole article
"Some poll workers are paid for their service, up to $140 for the day. Two to four hours of training may be required, with additional pay of $6.40 per hour. "
