Abortion protesters hold memorial for fetus at park
I could not make this up.

****************************

A memorial service for an aborted fetus concluded today without the planned burial in Smith Park.

The 11 a.m. service was part of an eight-day protest led by the anti-abortion group, Operation Save America, in an effort to shut down Jackson Women's Health Organization, the state's last remaining abortion clinic.

snip/

Father Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life, said the fetus, which is being preserved in a formaldehyde-like solution, will be buried in Alabama in a few months.

Pavone said he received the fetus from an anonymous pathologist who asked him to give it a proper burial. Pavone said the fetus was aborted at about 18 weeks. It has been used in demonstrations in New York and Columbus, Ohio, he said, and will be in several more before being buried.

Can you believe that? It might receive a "proper burial" in 2026, after it's thorougly decomposed and been dragged through every state in the union.

Muse, look at the kid in the lower left corner of the photo...WHAT kind of parent would EXPOSE their children to that???

These people are just freaks all the way around.

44. This is what the good reverend said about children viewing this
The Rev. Flip Benham, the leader of Operation Save America, bristled at those who might question showing a fetus to children.

"This does not traumatize our children," Benham said. "This traumatizes the adults who would hide the horrors of abortion."

http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060720/NEWS/60720008

I think this is some of the sickest behavior that I have seen abortion protesters use to date. I previously thought that the blown up pictures of aborted fetuses were bad, but this is just over the top. No one in their right mind would take a small child to see a formaldehyde embalmed fetus and then give them a lecture on abortion. This is just sick!

19. I've been approached by them at clinics
with fetus's in jars. Apparently any woman showing up at a clinic is there for an abortion (in their minds). It never occurs to them that you may be there for reproductive health care check up (pap), birth control, etc. They approach everyone the same way...shaking that damned fetus in a jar and waving their posters of bloodied, weeping fetuses at all concerned. It is absolutely sickening.

:puke:

As far as I'm concerned, these are the sickest people on the planet. Schizophrenics don't have shit on these idiots.

11. Yet, they dare not consider it murder when they
kill abortion providers, bomb clinics, etc. None of them would dare take their sorry asses to the burials of soldiers, killed in this ridiculous war, but they would have a funeral for a fetus. Nice. If there is a hell, I hope these hypocritical, sick bastards burn in it.

:mad::crazy::puke:

Why don't they ask to be notified by local hospitals everytime a woman miscarries, and have funerals for them, too? :sarcasm: What a bunch of freaks!

12. In Ohio, that sounds like "Abuse of a Corpse" (O.R.C. 2927.01)
"§ 2927.01. Abuse of a corpse.

(A) No person, except as authorized by law, shall treat a human corpse in a way that the person knows would outrage reasonable family sensibilities.

(B) No person, except as authorized by law, shall treat a human corpse in a way that would outrage reasonable community sensibilities.

(C) Whoever violates division (A) of this section is guilty of abuse of a corpse, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Whoever violates division (B) of this section is guilty of gross abuse of a corpse, a felony of the fifth degree."

http://onlinedocs.andersonpublishing.com/oh/lpExt.dll?f=templates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=PORC

Using the corpse of a fetus for multiple mock burials sounds like it would outrage both "reasonable family" and "reasonable community" sensibilities.

27. but if they were charged as such
and found guilty, it would then end the argument as to if the embryo is a non human blob, or a human.
and once that is cleared up by the courts, the result could be that abortion might be considered murder.

30. Bring them up on charges. It's a win/win.
Either they'd be convicted for abusing a corpse, with all the attendant jail and fines and a prohibition against doing it anymore,

or they'll be acquitted as the judge rules that the fetus does not qualify as a corpse, legally undermining their arguement.

13. abortion, Islam, and gays are one and the same, apparently
Anti-abortionists' burning of Quran called 'hateful'

Jackson Muslims and a statewide interfaith group reacted with disgust Wednesday to reports that the national anti-abortion group Operation Save America burned a Quran during a Tuesday night gathering at a Pearl church.

"A group that acts in such a hateful way does not really represent the word of God," said Emad Al-Turk, co-founder of the International Museum of Muslim Cultures in Jackson.

...

During a demonstration at the Capitol on Tuesday, anti-abortion activists tore up pages from the Quran, the Muslim holy book, along with a gay pride flag and copies of six U.S. Supreme Court rulings related to religion in public schools, sodomy and abortion.

Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 05:45 PM by Ilsa
Most likely is Down's Syndrome, but it could very well be other abnormalities that if permitted to continue, would eventually result in the birth of a baby that doctors would have to try to save in the face of near-certain death. Pain and suffering would be likely.

I wonder if the pathologist ran a genetic test and gave those results to the anti-choice person (not that it matters to them).

38. Did the mother/carrier of the fetus give permission for this charade?
I doubt it.

Abortion is an intensely personal experience. What right do these people have, and what right did the priest have, to use a woman's trauma to advance their hypocritical agenda?

Memorials for miscarriages, I understand that completely. This grotesque display of caring about an aborted fetus, while children in their own country are being abused sexually and physically, while pregnant women, and children, are dying in Iraq from our warmongering, makes me nauseous.

The Fetus is named Rebecca.

The news is showing MANY MANY parents and grandparents bringing kids of all ages--babies to teens--and picking up the little ones and holding them over the coffin so that they can see the baby.

I told y'all. They're freaks!

Edit to add: The pro-choice spokesman came off as being the intelligent, sane person in the interviews in that news segment. He questioned people bringing their children to the display of a fake fetus. He said that the fetus is not real.

The pro-lifer they interviewed came off as a NUT. He said that there was nothing wrong with showing kids a fetus. That they needed to see murder so that they could oppose it when they get older.

At 18 weeks, I wasn't even wearing maternity clothes. The fetus is only about 5 inches long and a couple of ounces at that stage. You only can feel a slight "fluttering" at that point. Too small to really feel kicks at that point.
