MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A lawsuit stemming from the jamming of Democratic phone lines in the November 2002 elections was filed after the statute of limitations expired and should be dismissed, Republicans argued in court Thursday.
Lawyers for Republicans said the three-year statute of limitations had expired when state Democrats filed their complaint in late January.
But state Democratic Party Chairwoman Kathy Sullivan testified in Hillsborough County Superior Court that Democrats did not know whom to sue until long after the actual phone-jamming, when information from a federal investigation became public. The hearing resumes Friday.

Among those they want to question is the former associate director of the White House Political Affairs Office, Alicia Davis. They also want to see her phone records and those of her then-boss, Ken Mehlman, now RNC chairman....
Mangones has dismissed several other of the Democrat' claims, including conspiring against constitutional rights to vote and civil harassment. The remaining claims deal with interference with phone systems and seek compensation.
