Northern Command chief: Don’t count the casualties
Northern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Udi Adam noted Friday that the fighting in the north was highly demanding and casualties were unavoidable. “This is a demanding operation and we are at war. War costs lives. Civilians will be killed too. I suggest not counting the dead. We need to show strength and determination,” Adam said during a briefing Friday held near the site of an IAF helicopter accident Thursday night. Adam also addressed the battle in which Egoz unit fighters were killed.

The army officer clarified that in the past two days, the aim of army operations was to “find and locate terror nests, from where Hizbullah operatives fire Katyushas deep into Israel. These operations are carried out on Lebanese territory. They are not easy and are carried out with intense determination by the most elite soldiers. They are showing courage, strength of spirit, professionalism and uncompromising fighting.”

According to Adam, international public opinion in support of Israel constitutes an achievement in the current struggle, as does the fact that “a great deal of Hizbullah infrastructure on every layer has been damaged.”

Don't publish the casualties. Bad for morale. This is war! Now, back to your word processors!

5. Hmmm, I have noticed they have not had a problem counting Israeli

dead and wounded, the numbers are readily supplied. The dead and wounded that are not to be "counted" are Lebanese and only the Lebanese.

Edited to add after more thought on this:

If the number of dead and wounded Isrealis were greater than the number of dead and wounded Lebanese, does anyone think the meme " don't count the dead" would be being put forward by the Israelis? To be absolutely fair, the meme might well be put forward by Hizbollah instead. IMO, for anyone to be saying "don't count the dead" is dispicable.

18. My interpretation of the guy's statement is that ...
... he was referring to Israeli losses, given that it was a comment made in reference to the helicopter collision incident. I didn't see any obvious reference to Lebanese casualties, par for the course.

9. Don't count the dead
And don't show their coffins. And definitely don't count civilian dead. It causes too much cognitive dissonance.

15. So...
It doesn't really matter how many innocent people, children are killed in order to get the guilty? Is this reflective of attitudes in the West or much more in keeping with the attitudes of terrorists in the Middle East?

Israel must feel very secure in it's support by the elites that run western governments -- they can make all those governments ignore international law and their OWN principles.
