Lay leaves assets to wife
01:22 PM CDT on Friday, July 21, 2006
Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Enron founder Kenneth Lay, who died earlier this month, left all of his assets to his wife, Linda, according to his will.
The document filed in Harris County Probate Court on Thursday does not specify the assets.

Linda Lay is executor of the will, which Kenneth Lay signed Aug.8, 2003, the Houston Chronicle reported in its online editions Thursday.

Lay also was convicted of one count of bank fraud and three counts of lying to banks in a separate, non-jury trial before U.S. Judge Sim Lake stemming from his personal banking.

Lay insisted he committed no crimes and planned to appeal. Skilling, who now faces sentencing alone on Oct. 23, also aims to appeal.
Since Lay left everything to his wife, she will have sole discretion over how she would pass on any assets.
His assets could also be the target of civil lawsuits.>>>>snip

5. Keep an eye on her, see where she travels to or moves.
If Kenny boy did indeed fake his death, they could meet up on some island.

7. I wonder if the estate's assets will be frozen until all litigation
has concluded (save for payment of the odious federal estate taxes . . . )

9. They have untouchable annuities that start paying next year:
his pays 44K per month, hers 35K, for life. I guess he forfeited his. There are at LEAST 2 homes -- Aspen & the Houston condo. Oodles more offshore. Do you think Enron had partnerships & other companies registered on the Cayman Islands for nothing? LOL.

Lay's will leaves everything to his wife

By BILL HENSEL JR. and LYNN J. COOK
Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle

Signed by Lay on Aug. 8, 2003, about a year before his indictment, the will does not identify any specific assets.

But it does outline in general that he leaves her all of his interest in any automobiles, clothing, jewelry, household goods, furniture and furnishings, antiques, art objects and other personal effects.....

One of the first things that will happen next, said Richard Alderman, a professor at the University of Houston Law Center, is creditors will have a chance to make claims against the estate.

"So anyone he owes money to, anyone in the process of suing him, those claims become claims against the estate," Alderman said. "Death probably ended all the criminal matters, but it doesn't end the civil."

11. I bet she's not suffering liquidity issues any more.
Sorry for her loss, and all that. I don't envy her widowhood. I hope she can find something useful and penitential to do with all that money.

15. "useful and penitential"....
like giving the lion's share back to the workers who lost their life savings.

I ain't holding my breath for that selfless act. Fuck Ken Lay and fuck his widow too.
