Afghan rocket attack kills U.S. soldier

A U.S. solider was killed in Afghanistan Friday when rockets and mortars hit a coalition base in the eastern province of Paktika, U.S. military officials said.

Insurgents reportedly fired several rounds of artillery at the base earlier Friday. The soldier was taken to a medical center where he died from his wounds.
