A cardboard sign is hanging in a tree, directed at a boy with developmental disabilities, and the boy's mother isn't happy.

Neighbor: "I'm not taking the sign down, last night was the first night of peace we've got in a long ----- time."

Carrie Heaton, Colton's Mother: "They've put up this sign now, that we feel is very discriminatory against my son."

The cardboard sign is hanging in a tree in the Central Utah town of Nephi.

It is also being denounced tonight by advocates for the disabled.

8. their daughter was assaulted and police did nothing

i don't condone the sign but it was apparently the only way to bring attention to the problem

this teen boy beat their 10 year old daughter and the police didn't arrest him for assault?

where the police won't enforce the law, what choice do people have?

who would sit here and sacrifice their daughter to this uncontrolled teen boy?

14. A lot of assumptions here...

There's a lot to this story that's been left out. The neighbor claims he was "harassed." By whom? How? He also said he has pictures, but nothing was written about him showing the pictures to anyone to back up his claims. Also, I didn't see anything about the daughter being "beaten up," just that she was assaulted. Could it be the kid turned on her and assaulted her after she bullied him into a rage?

If he is functioning on the level of a three year old, why isn't his family supervising him like a three year old. It sounds like his parents need to put a little more effort into parenting the child. Perhaps, instead of charging him with assault, they should charge his parents with neglect.
Three year olds do not wander around on their own.
