Teen killed by rocket in Israel
Teen killed by rocket in Israel

From correspondents in Mghar, Israel
July 25, 2006

A 15-year-old Arab Israeli girl was killed and four people injured today when a rocket hit her house in the village of Mghar in northern Israel, medical sources said.
Neighbours identified the victim as Doha Abbas. The rocket crashed through the roof of her house, killing her immediately, they said.

Her death brings to 42 the death toll in Israel since the start of the Lebanon crisis two weeks ago, including 18 civilians and 24 soldiers.

The attack followed a barrage of rockets fired from Lebanon on the northern port of Haifa, which injured at least five people, three of them seriously.

1. SAD, HEAVY SIGH.
And so the beat goes on. All civilian deaths on both sides are to be lamented and mourned, particularly younger victims, and this is all getting to be just too much to take.

2. If all these factions fighting in the world would just realize
that a missle doesn't have a religion. It will kill one of yours as easily as it kills one of theirs.

4. Aahhh - I have a cat just like the middle one in your pictures.
Headley (after Headley Lamar in Blazing Saddles) thinks he's a dog and follows me all around the house. Aren't Siamese gorgeous?

19. Me too - I have 13! All indoor cats, of course.
Heads is special to me, because he was diagnosed with heart disease and given three months to live - three months ago. He's doing fabulously and we're so happy that our vet figured out the best meds for him.

10. Tell me about it...
A fifteen year old life, barely started for all practical purposes, a human being with dreams and ambitions, love of family, etc. was snuffed out because of this fucking nightmare in the middle east caused by those on BOTH sides that have attitudes JUST like the poster I responded too. Its too fucking sick.

12. The thing they can't wrap their heads around is this...
The fact that she was Arab and Israeli is not even on the radar for me, I don't really give a fuck where someone is born, what their religion is, or what ethnic group they belong to. They are Human Beings first, and the death of any innocent human being is a tragedy.

17. All life is precious...
They are Jewels that sparkle in the dark, focus on those lights, hopefully they will see you through. The hole in your heart will never heal, however, keep to the memories, especially the pleasant ones. I have suffered a loss similar to yours, though it involved the only grandfather I've known. His death was unexpected, it was a decade ago now, and I still remember the last words I said to him, "See you later Grandpa", the day before he died, I visited my grandparents that day, and for the longest time I regretted not going back in and playing yet another game of Blackjack or Poker with him. After all this time, I still miss him, but I have learned that I shouldn't have such regrets, now I try to focus on the positive memories of him.
